The fatal human flaw has been identified, and it is called the "NORMALCY BIAS". People base most of their decisions on this outlook, and simply failed to provide for the adequate backup because ... well ... THEY DON'T HAVE A DOOM MENTALITY like I do. "Optimism" is a CANCER.

Really?

Tell me, ZM, do you ever drive a car? Are you ever a passenger in one?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74444

I don't drive a "car". I own two 4X4's - both with beefy suspensions, skid plates and high clearance. My Blazer "High Rider" was purchased new in 2001 and now has over 105,000 miles on it. I've done almost nothing to it except change oil, and I just put two new rear tires on it. The front tires are still factory original and still have so much tread left, they can easily go another 20-30,000 miles. The decision to own such a vehicle may seem a bit "extreme" since I don't use it for serious off-roading (which is what it was truly built for), but that decision paid off BIG just this winter. I was driving on a snow covered road doing 50 mph when an oncoming truck started creeping over the center lane. I was forced to move right and my right side tires lost traction in what probably was the snow covered shoulder. The vehicle fish tailed and then headed off the road at 45 degree angle into a 4 foot deep drainage ditch. Not fighting the inevitable I decided to steer straight into the ditch - at 50 mph. The Blazer went airborn, but due to my fast reaction it hit the opposite sloping side of the ditch at such an angle that it enabled the vehicle to climb the ditch wall - thanks entirely to the high clearance. I "drove" up the opposite site, regained some control and "decided" I didn't want to remain in the ditch so I turned the other way, drove down into the ditch and up the opposite side and popped out onto the road - going airborne "again" in the process. I headed down the road again and the vehicle felt "fine" - solid. Got home and the only damage was the plastic wheel well flange and some screw supports for the grill and headlight bezel. Otherwise, NORMAL. Even the wheel alignment held up. If I had done that maneuver in an ordinary car, the car would have been TOTALED and both me and my daughter would probably have been injured (or worse). And yes - the Blazer was in 4 wheel drive mode at the time - which enabled me to retain some control throughout the ordeal.

My PESSIMISM saved me - not my "optimism". I was PREPARED for the worst - and as a result survived it physically AND financially when the danger materialized.

No - a "truck" is not a "car". Though both are "vehicles" if you truly want to split hairs about it.

Glad you and your daughter came out of that all right. But you miss my point, entirely.

That you operate or ride in ANY vehicle -- AT ALL -- is far more dangerous than the things you repeatedly advise people here to overprepare for.

Your chances of dying in an Earthquake: 1 in approximately 153,000.

A Storm? About 1 in 51,000

Electricity or Radiation? About 1 in 9400.

Now -- a VEHICLE where you are a passenger? 1 in 272.

A VEHICLE where you are DRIVING? 1 in 85.

YET: you own and operate vehicles on a near daily basis, I'll wager. Were you RATIONAL in your PESSIMISM: you should not drive AT ALL. You should tell your daughter to never set foot in a car or truck AGAIN. EVER.

After all, the odds of dying as a pedestrian are only about 1 in 623. If you were "consistent" in your "pessimism" you would sell your vehicles at this very moment.

But you won't.

You routinely advise (or support those that advise) truly astonishing amounts of so-called preparations for events that are ridiculously unlikely to happen -- yet for those fatal occurrences of every day, you remain, to use YOUR phrase, "optimistic."

Your particular flavor of "doomer" mentality is quite illogical. You should consider critically reexamining it.

Thank you. Of all the debunkers, you are by far the most civil and considerate. CB is second - but *not* a close second. (He's just not as big an ASS as the others).

We're all DOOMED. None of us get out of here "alive". But being a bit "paranoid" and safety conscious does much more than just keep you out of the coffin. I'm 48, and so far, live almost entirely pain free. I don't have the bad back, knees, feet, hips, wrists, etc. etc. that so many other folks have at my age. I don't push my body to the extreme and I take precautions in most of the endeavors I undertake in life. Now of course some of that is just "luck" - but most of it results from just plain "defensive" living. Living "defensively" doesn't mean not taking "risks" - but rather reducing risk, mitigating it, managing it wisely. As a result I last longer, and everything I own lasts longer as well. Everything in life is a risk/reward equation. I'm not an adrenaline junkie, and don't "thrill" that easily - so it's a lot easier for my to avoid things like motorcycles and snowmobiles and not feel that I was missing anything. (I've ridden both and they were fun - but for me, not exponentially so). But in modern society, especially in the midwest, not driving is really *not* an option. In fact I've easily logged over a million miles behind the wheel since I first got my license 22 years ago. Having done SO MUCH driving without a major injury inducing accident (though I've had about ten fender benders - only two being my fault), is largely a result of being a VERY defensive driver. I *NEVER* trust the other driver to do the right thing, and that attitude has kept me out of numerous accidents. Having a rugged vehicle helps as well. Because of these extra defensive factors, I can assure you, the stats *DON'T* apply to me. The odds of "my" being in severe accident are QUITE a bit less than average. I can assure you.

Don't worry Max, the feelings mutual. Well, it wasn't until your comment. User was by far the biggest ass. You come in a close second. Everything you get from me is reciprocal of what you give.

Anyway, I thought I would share this:

Apparently, Nancy and the "Zetas" forgot there were/are spy satellites in orbit that can do exactly what they're supposedly trying to prevent.

Listened to Clif last night!!! He's sticking to his March 25th date as the day critical food shortages begin, and then escalate from there. He also reiterated that the "ill winds" language is still as strong as ever, and he DOES believe that radiation from the Japan nuclear facilities is very well the "poison" that will cause hundreds of millions of deaths globally, and be responsible for a MASSIVE diaspora of people desperately attempting to get above the 40th parallel. I currently live above the 42nd parallel and all of Chicago is above the 40th - which is why I suspect Rahm Emanual is Chicago's new mayor. Sitting on the largest fresh water body in the world, and given it's strategic location, I've suspected for a while that Chicago will be "Fortress Chicago" and may indeed become the country's new capital city if DC becomes uninhabitle for whatever reason. Consider that Obama is "ostensibly" from here, having served as an Illinois senator. He maintains his "permanent residence" in Chicago as well, and of course stays there whenever he's in town.

There are NO co-oincidences I'm sure in ALL of this. Chicago has been identified as EXTREMELY important to the elite. As to "why", we can only speculate ...

Although, I've noticed you aren't supporting her as much as you are Clif....who has also been wrong numerous times. That being the case, I guess we're going from debunking Nancy to debunking Clif. So, we'll be here to listen to you spin this latest prediction when it fails in just two weeks. After all, we know you won't simply admit he was wrong...you didn't the last couple of times.

Clif has never been right about any specific prediction. He was wrong in November, he was wrong in January, dates he also stuck by until they passed and then he started backstroking and spinning to cover his fail. About that time he got caught here posting as Clif fans starting threads in support of himself. He is a total scam artist, yet Max still believes him, still hangs on his every bullshit laden word. But we all know Maxipads' history of following self proclaimed prophets (profits) with zero prediction accuracy track records. I look forward to yet another Clif-biggerthan911-High fiasco. I'm sure when March 25th comes and goes with no event he will make excuses, like this is just the start, it happened but we won't notice it for months, just like he always does. You have been double duped Max.

I believe in their crap so much that my new permanent residence is now Naples, Florida and my work residence is Savannah, Georgia.

What's "tragically" hilarious is how the silly debunkers jump up and down waving their arms shouting "Clif wrong", "Clif wrong" ... when perhaps the worst TRULY GLOBAL disaster since the Second World War ended is unfolding in front all of us with ALL THE ELEMENTS embodying Clif's global "ill winds" prediction.

Ironic in the EXTREME!

If the threads now pinned are at all right about the "MOX stuff":

Thread: You know, that MOX stuff they've put in the reactors? It's 2 MILLION TIMES more toxic than uranium!!

- then Clif's prediction starts to look PRETTY DAMN IMPRESSIVE!!!!

lol4me Dream on there, Melfy. Just like the OTHER oountless number of doom predictors that frequent these here internets Clify Boy is nothing out of the ordinary. They send out a VAGUE message in such a way that ANY disaster or significant world event is spun by themselves or their followers as "A HIT!!".

The ACTUAL fact is that DISASTERS and SIGNIFICANT WORLD EVENTS happen and frequently more so than not.

Just like you, Melfy, old Clify Boy is full of shit and is NOTHING special as far as predicting future events etc go.

PRETTY DAMN IMPRESSIVE.........

Not to me. Unless he's very specific as to where and when, he's just a false prophet like all the rest.

Here's some information on MOX:

[link to www.world-nuclear.org]

I have yet to see anything that says it is any more dangerous than what is typically used. I'm not saying it isn't, but I haven't found anything saying it is and the OP in that link you provided didn't give his or her source for the information they posted.

Imagine how things would have been different for the victims if they had listened to Nancy. They would have survived the tsunami because they would have moved inland. Yet the debunkers would have us believe that listening to Nancy is harmful ...

It begs the question. If the Zetas knew what would happen in Japan, why didn't they choose a Japanese national, someone who could have "gotten the message out" to people that happen to not speak English. Could it be that the STO zetas only care about those that speak English? And where pray tell should the Japanese have moved inland to? Have you ever been to Japan? Do you not know that there isn't much habitable land to go around? Surely you know that beyond the coastlines are mountains prone to landslides. In fact they are concerned that rains may bring slides to the already unstable mountains and hills.

This would rate right up there as ONE of the more downright STUPID things that you have ever posted on our glorious debunkers thread.

For fuck sakes Melfster there is a LIMIT to the level of RETARDED statement that one can make on our debunkers thread ya know. Why do you persist so vehemently in raising that bar of RETARDED...ness?

The "subject" of the statement wasn't the Japanese victims, but the debunkers and their statements. Of course they're reading into that "if it isn't good for the whole society, it isn't good for the individual, and therefore should not be advocated".

NONSENSE. There are plenty of things in life that currently work for individuals, but would FAIL overnight if "everyone" did the same thing. Take advertising for instance. If "everyone" who sold a product attempted to do the same amount of advertising as say the Miller Brewing Company, there would be NOTHING but commercials on TV. If everyone went to store at the same time, there wouldn't be enough goods. If everyone decided tomorrow to cover their roof with solar panels, the panels would be gone in ten minutes.

The reality is that even if every debunker who ever criticized Nancy became a "bunker" right now, the fact is, not everyone would listen ANYWAY. The question was, why following Nancy's advice was bad for ANYONE??? - because THAT is what the debunkers would have EVERYONE beleive.

What the fuck does Nancy have to do with this? Did she predict this quake? Was she on Japanese radio or television telling these people to move further inland? Wow, this is low even for you.

BTW, we never said any such thing. What we've said is that it's always good to be prepared for a disaster but the disaster Nancy has been promoting for over 10 years simply isn't going to happen because "Planet X" doesn't exist. Why do you lie?
