So many of Nancy's biggest defenders have disappeared. I haven't seen Soledad for ages. Freestore is MIA. Max is the only one left, and he isn't even trying to defend Nancy anymore. He has adopted Clif as his new hero.

Which bandwagon will he jump on when he gives up on Clif? Maybe Candace? Or David Wilcox? Unfortunately, for every new age chicken little doom monging scam that falls there are three that pop up in their place. I will be glad to see the end of the 2012 scam since it's so insulting to the Mayan people. But I'm sure the people making money from it will find a way to keep people hooked beyond the end of 2012. After all, some people need to cling to the hope that all the bad things and people will get wiped out and the good will magically find themselves in a better world without having to do anything themselves to make the world better.

I will make every effort to honor the bet. First things first, we agreed on the date the bet would be considered "resolved" - January 1st, 2012.

We never actually agreed on the length of the GRACE PERIOD needed to pay off the bet. Since one was never agreed upon, and if the terms of indebtedness were to be adjudicated in a court of law, the judge would infer a REASONABLE time period in which to pay, followed by late provisions should the grace period pass without the debt being paid.

Given the nature of the bet - not just a "steak", but indeed, my actually travelling from Illinois to South Carolina and buying Hap his steak IN PERSON: it would be reasonable to allow a few months to arrange such an "event". I would think any judge in the land would allow a grace period of at least three months to arrange and fulfill the terms of the bet. After that, some form of late penalty would be granted and allowed to accrue for each month that goes by past March that the debt remains unpaid.

I have a friend in South Carolina I'd like to visit, so I have additional reason to travel there. The problem is, I have a full time job, and am critically short of funds at the moment - so such trip might have to wait until the tax return comes in.

Consider, it will easily cost me in the neighborhood of a $1000 to actually travel to SC and purchase Hap his steak with "all the trimmings".

I don't have that kind of cash laying around.

I USED TO. When the bet was originally made, I made 30% more salary than I earn now. I was out of work for five months, and exhausted nearly all of my savings during that period. If I had to make the bet all over again, given my current financial situation, I would **NOT** have made it.

But I am a "man" of my word, so I intend to fulfill my obiligation.

I think a "reasonable" penalty is to agree to increase the value of the bottle of wine I will buy for Hap's dinner, by $50 for each month that goes past March that the debt remains outstanding.

Given that Ruth's Chris has bottles well over a $1000, that is pretty good incentive for me to pay the debt as soon as possible.

I will do my abolute BEST to pay off the bet as soon as possible.

Assuming of course Hap wins, which HASN'T happened yet. (There is still time!!!)

sorry to hear about your misfortune. Maybe the deal could be changed so that you don't have to buy the steak in person. 1 Jan 2012 isn't far away!

That's all pretty much fine. Travel arrangements must be made, financial consideration, and so forth.

So long as, on the 1st of Jan, you concede that you lost the bet.

The logistics I leave to you and Hap, however long that may take, given circumstance.

In other words, you can, and will, "delay" the payment indefinitely, while you whine about how much more has "accrued" with each passing month, modifying your excuses as needed and to suit your passing whims.

It will be entertaining to watch as Maxie contrives various maneuvers and machinations in order to keep from definitively conceding any such thing.

Of course Max is waffling. The simple and cost effective solution is to send Hap a gift card to that particular restaurant, like say for $150 dollars. That should cover a nice dinner for Hap and a date.

And as for the grace period, Max has had years to prepare for this. Either he is that credulous that he really thought this day would never come, or he never had any intention of making good on his wager. I know which one I believe to be true.

Sure. It does me no harm, and despite past behavior, I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt. ZM's tone *did* seem reasonable and pre-conciliatory (perhaps I invented another word?)to me, thus I typed so.

However, if his excuses continue after the 1st of January, or he doesn't concede his/Nancy's failure on that date, my tone would certainly change.

We'll see what happens.

More proof that Clif's economic "predictions" are simply based on current news. To think that Max PAYS Clif for the information when the rest of us get it FREE by simply reading and paying attention.

PERHAPS - it has come and gone, and no one noticed!

Of course, without PROOF, it would be tough getting HAP to admit defeat.

See what a weasel Max is? The bet was made when Nancy insisted that there would be no denying the passage of Planet X and the pole shift before 2012. That's when the bet was made. Max even said that he was sure we would all be toast by then. That's what the bet was about. It was much later that Nancy decided to widen the window and diminish the doom to the extent that we might not even notice. That's not part of the bet. The bet was that if doom wasn't all around us by 2012, Max would buy Hap a steak.

This isn't really surprising. I'd actually be surprised if he DID pay up.

How can believers be reporting that the moon and sun are out of place if the "Zetas" are moving them so that they're in the correct place? Nancy's blind believers have been reporting that the sun and moon have been appearing "too far north" and "too far south" for years. Either the "Zetas" are moving everything to appear normal or they aren't. It's called a CONTRADICTION...look it up.
