The only "doom" I see happening is Israel attacking Iran...but no one needs Clif to foresee that happening. The possibility of it has been discussed in the news for at least the past two weeks. Will it happen? Hard to say. Personally, I think Israel would be making a mistake if they did. Doing so would jack up fuel costs worldwide...shit, the tense situation there has already jacked up the prices. If gas hits the $5 mark as some analysts say it will, that will pretty much kill the economic recovery slowly taking place and I think Israel may find themselves losing a lot of support from the citizens in the U.S. if not worldwide. Does Iran need to be dealt with? Perhaps. I'd like to take what's his face over there in Iran's word that their nuclear endeavors are for peaceful energy production. But he has shown in the past he can't be trusted.

If and when the us decides to go for it in Iran, I am afraid that they will be pretty much on their own this time, not even a `coalition of the duped/unwilling' with them

From what I have read online- it seems that this is a `big thing' for the usa internally, are any US citizens even aware that for `the rest of the world' this isnt even in the media at all???

I mean that most people outside of the USA simply dont know the extent that its become such an issue in the US... most of them arent even aware that the USA wants to invade yet another country

The U.S. doesn't want to invade another country. I don't know where you get that from. In fact, Israel may find they're on their own on this because our "President" has made it clear to them that he would rather resolve this diplomatically or let the economic sanctions against Iran take hold.

I get the fox news channel here in Oz (well part of the time, its on just before my favourite program) so often catch the tail end of it, and they certainly seem to be trying to ramp it up against Iran, it's the last segment before my show almost every day how bad the Iranians are and how they want to blow up everything with their (still not confirmed) `nukular' bombs, and how they should be shocked and awed for complaining about little things like assasinaions and bombing inside their borders and illegal overflights into their country

It's very possible they intend to make nuclear weapons. However, the U.S. went into Iraq for weapons of mass destruction that didn't exist...or were never found. So, I think we should try to take Iran for their word until we have absolute proof otherwise. Besides, I'd like to think that what's his face is smart enough to know he'd be on the losing end of a battle if he decided to use them against anyone.

personally I think that gw actually made the proliferation of nukes (even baby ones) much more likely with the war in Iraq, mostly because with the handling of Nth Korea after they tested theirs with baby gloves, the message that seemed to come out (I certainly thought so at the time) was that unless you managed to get the nukes, you were likely to be `shocked and awed' if you didn't do the one step with the USA

basically anyone that had the nukes was to be left alone, but no nukes and being on the `axis of evil' was taramount to suicide (or shock and awed)so get in quick before your next `weapons of mass distraction' filled the media...

`axis of evil' every time I heard that phrase, I instantly had an image of Dr Evil from Austen Powers doing the one finger in front of his face thing...
