While the article doesn't mention Nancy or any other doomsayer, it highlights why such people can be dangerous. I imagine we'll be hearing more of these stories as December approaches.

Just because this guy was a wack-job, doens't mean all wack-job's are survivalists!!!

I didn't say all whack-jobs are survivalists. But a good number of survivalists are whack jobs...believing in doomsday scenarios that will never happen.

It's one thing to be prepared for disaster and another to dedicate your life to being prepared. We are all going to die someday, and at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how we get dead. When your time is up there is no cheating death, so I prefer to live like there's no tomorrow every single day, squeeze the most I can out of the short life I have here. If there is anything on the other side, I will know once I get there and I am not going to worry myself about it until that time comes. Life is way to short to live it in fear of death.

I have known lots of survivalist types over my lifetime, and most of them ARE a bit kooky. I had a friend that became a survivalist in the mountains back in the 70's. He was sure that we had very little time to prepare, he did a pretty good job of it too, but nothing ever happened. He was a really smart guy and he could have contributed good things to society if he hadn't isolated himself preparing for disaster. Then, a few years ago he was diagnosed with liver cancer. The last time I saw him, just shortly before he died, he regretted spending his life isolate from the world, he never had a wife and the only companion he left behind was a dog. Such a waste, and it was so sad to see him make the realization when death was tapping him on the shoulder, not years earlier when he could have enjoyed his life a little.

So IDW/A.A. said he'd bet anything I could afford to lose that I wouldn't be able to post to GLP in a month, and when I try to take him up on it he runs away.

He isn't quite up to the Apollo arguments of times past. Pity to see such a colorful personality fading. He's still more fun than Nancy ever was, though.

If one spends one's entire life preparing for some imaginary doom, one has a vested interest in that doom happening! This is the dangerous mental trap into which many of these people fall.

That's why those who promote 'doom scenarios' (like Nancy, Clif, etc. and hosts of others) are so irresponsible. They prey on weak minds but care not about the consequences.

Isn't that the truth. Nancy was sort of fun to laugh at with her many illogical ings; complete with endless FAILED doomsday dates and colourful gullible followers in tow. After a while though Ms LIEDer's nonsense becomes a rather dull and recycled exercise to read/comment about. Even motor mouth, Zeta Max, is seemingly firing blanks these days. Looks like even Zeta Max has run out of doomsday spunk!!

PS: My favourite Nancy episode, from GLP past, still has to be the entire elle saga. Elle was certainly an intriguing "glp" creation of Ms LIEDer's.

Wasn't Andrew of the Ukraine a "survivalist"? I'm pretty sure that he was going to up and relocate to some remote village to "survive" the coming geographical poleshift. Well that was the case up until his girlfriend decided not to follow him on his wack-job "survivalist" plan to the middle of freaken nowhere.

Mind you, Andy Boy, was very well trained in the art of the wack-job....if I recall correctly he was wack jobbing himself off morning, noon, and night!!

He predicted Fukishima!!!!

He thinks there is a VERY good chance that there will be no election this fall in the US.

He thinks martial law will be declared in the US before year's end.

He thinks the KILL SHOT has a very good chance of manifesting THIS YEAR.

He also said that there are only a handful of safe havens in the Southern Hemisphere. He said there were two tiny ones in New Zealand.

So LTR, If I were you, I'd stop laughing at prognosticators and get busy trying to find those safe havens ... or ... you're gonna be one fried kiwi!!!

Heh... Ed Dames "predicted" a quake in Japan which would "crack" a double-containment. Funny how it didn't happen that way and he made no mention at all of the real cause of the reactor breech- WATER, in the form of a tsumami.

When you take a closer look on the history of doomsday scenarios you will easily see that they all have one thing in common: they always failed.

Both Nancy Lieder and Cheryl are following obsolete hoax scenarios which are lost in cyberspace. Nancy Lieder`s actual page is a lense flare collection. The so called Zetas seem to be as brain-dead as Lieder`s followers, because every little child with some basic knowledge can clearly identify these hoaxes. And you really don`t need some old floppy discs to discover new planets or whatever. These people seem to live in the middle age. Why does nobody tell them that there are real good telescopes out there? Every amateur astronomer of the world could not miss such big new planets (since decades).

Especially Lieder`s lame 7 of 10 scenario which should only last two weeks,- is on the best way to get an evergreen of hoaxes, following Lieder`s long history of bad jokes and penible errors.
