aussie 763624 User ID: 21180058 Australia 08/03/2012 11:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yea, but SHARING information was NOT. Taking sky photos in the seventies and even eighties required film that needed later development, and expensive copies to deseminate. Making a case for other amateur's to investigate took a LOT more "marketing" back then than it does now. After all, "seeing is believing". Today's technology would indeed make it harder to keep secrets, but today's technology was NOT as available or affordable to the ordinary amateur when the shuttle brought the Black Knight Satellite back to Earth in the 80's. Quoting: **ZetaMax** complete and utter bullshitte melfy- in the 80's many clubs issued newsletters- I myself had more mail from clubs in a week than my parents got all month they might not have had many coloured pics in them- but pictures could be obtained from the owners if their verbal(or written) description wasnt enough I know from my grandfather that even back in the 60's in a small country town, he was able to keep up with current affairs in the radio field- he kept every newsletter his club issued- the information exchange might not been as fast as it is now, but photocopying (mimograph I think they used then?) newsletters by post certainly were around and information exchange certainly happened His interest in radio sparked my own interest in electronics, and many of the things they could do then are actually impossible to do now surprisingly (it was a major interest of some radio enthusiasts back then to `dx' tv transmissions- my grandfather actually picked up tv transmissions from south africa in oz after the local stations shut down for the night- something that in todays overcrowded airwaves would be impossible so rather than making things easier, in many cases todays widespread usage of technology can actually cause us to regress in some areas... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 21180058 Australia 08/04/2012 12:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm not an astronomer (amateur or not) but I know from discussions that many have similar problems- back in the 60's- 80's widespread highpowered lighting wasn't around- many smaller towns used to turn off their (low powered by modern standards) lighting after a certain time as well I know from lurking on many boards that light pollution is a major issue for many now, where in the past they could skywatch every night from their own backyards, now it involves travelling to an area free from light pollution, so it seems that currently less actual hours are spent actually skywatching than in the past- making it less likely that a `rogue event' would be captured now than it would have been back then |
aussie 763624 User ID: 21180058 Australia 08/04/2012 11:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My assertion would be - not many. Quoting: **ZetaMax** Most of these folks would be looking for new comets, and supernova, and dreaming of "stardom" - literally. Tracking near earth objects that are mostly just big rocks, is not going to impress most of the ladies in attendance. They'll be over at Hap's table - looking at all his pretty nebula photos. and as usual- your `assertion' would be wrong... much like `everything' you have ever posted `They'll be over at Hap's table - looking at all his pretty nebula photos.' Yes...yes they will be They `might' be at melfys table looking at all his pretty planet x photos instead... Whats that? he isnt there?? but certainly there will be `someone' with a table of planet x photos- `just to impress the ladies'..... Whats that? they aren't there?? `Most of these folks would be looking for new comets, and supernova, and dreaming of "stardom" - literally.' melfy quote so IF they could scrap together a camera and an old floppy disc and get a photo- and had actual photos (you know- kinda like actual photos of real planets) they could GET real stardom... hmm... doh melfy fails AGAIN.... these people would indeed be the first to support you- IF there was anything in your claims that was true.... what was the name of the comet that was going to destroy the earth in deep impact??? Wolf-Biederman Any `amateur' astronomer would just love to be the discoverer of ANY unknown object- near or far Some may be honoured so I really doubt that anything will ever- EVER EVER EVER- be named after you melfy.... IF' you go there and get a table- who knows- you might even get famous.... just not in the way you want to... |
Dr. Astro Senior Forum Moderator User ID: 21217730 United States 08/04/2012 11:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No, you can't. How many star parties have you attended? Look "kid" (I'm probably two decades your senior), I've been around more people, events, and circumstances than I care to recall. Quoting: maxIrrelevant. How many star parties have you attended? You're too gutless to do it. There's nothing "special" about a star club. Quoting: maxHow would you know? You've never been. You don't know jack about amateur astronomy I KNOW a "star club" is no different. Quoting: MaxNo you don't, you've never been. I've seen these dynamics EVERYWHERE. Quoting: maxI don't care what other groups you've been in, you've never come to a star party, you do not get to make assumptions and sweeping generalizations. It's a massive logical fallacy and an automatic fail, which is what you're good at. On top of all that, there's certainly more than a couple "undercover" types on the DOD/CIA/FBI/NASA payroll as well - wandering around, and ready to POUNCE on any conversation that sounds like it's getting too far "out there". Quoting: maxAnd you're paranoid at that. You need serious mental help. I'm not saying there isn't "good astronomy" going on at these events - just not as "much" as you're implying, Quoting: maxAgain, until you actually show your face at chiefland, you do not get to make that claim. You have absolutely no evidence to support your claim. It does not matter what other social groups do or don't do. and certainly not enough to make the certainty that something like "the Black Knight Satellite" would be discovered and consistently tracked - a foregone conclusion. Quoting: maxAnd once again you prove how utterly clueless you are about amateur satellite tracking. We track everything, classified or not, and with knowledge of orbital mechanics (also beyond you) we identify each. |
aussie 763624 User ID: 21180058 Australia 08/04/2012 12:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He could attend and provide all his evidence of planet x or not as he pleases (either way it would be an empty table) lol actually just as a laugh-I am willing to pay for all his travel expenses to and from the next one and any expenses in getting a stall, table or whatever if he turns up and presents all his evidence of planet x even if its an empty table (ie he cant provide any evidence of it at all) I will still pay his travel to and from it (I will insist that his table- even if its empty otherwise- must have `I am Zetamax' and `Planet X evidence' and the address of this thread written on it in legible and visible from 6 feet away in writing on it, and he must be at the table for at least 75% of the time that the public is allowed into the area around that table) He has to stand by his evidence and prove it happened... photos or it isnt real ;-) (he doesn't have to actually show his face- I will allow him that much dignity, but he will have to show his attendance..) I also insist he actually talks to people there- and listens to them as well IF after all that- he still insists that all of `them' are deluded, paid off or are paid `debunkers'- I will buy him a steak dinner(or its equivalent if steak isnt his thing) hey what a deal- even if he doesnt believe in planet x- he still gets to attend a real live bunch of amateur astronomers and maybe even learn something to boot what a deal... |

To be honest, even every troll could see it naked eye. And if Nimbiru would be close to the sun, everybody could see him or her with the naked eye: since more than a decade. And even with very simple equipment.... In Nancy Lieder`s world fools are running around with old floppy-discs and try to get noamateur-astronomers: stupid as they are. So, Melfy, the Lieder-Troll has to mention somethting abut that. Melfy and Flareberto are the same category.... |

ANYONE (even melfy- thats zetamax btw)can post here- its been put forward (even by me at times) that he be banned, but TLR has to date put forward his position that as nancy was so ban happy here, he wouldnt ban anyone from this thread-not stooping as low as nancy as to have to ban dissenting voices So melfy has been allowed to post his zeta and then cliff shitte- we know its all bs- we know he has always been a flood troll (look over the first few pages of this thread to see he's always been like he is) but TLR has to date, always taken the moral high ground and refused to ban anyone- everyone can speak up here- no matter how stupid their comments- and they wont be banned... abused maybe- but not banned... unlike nancy.... hence the `debunkers paradise....' free from nancy and her ban hammer at the time (she has since left for the ning- where bannings are the norm.....) so we repost her more inane babblings from time to time, and show up her many mistakes A long post, but hopefully a bit educational to you Hydra |

Regarding a Melfy-ban I'm with TLR - banning Melfy would put this thread into the same range as the Poleshit.ning. Nevertheless in my opinion Melfy gets to much attention. When I first posted: Rename the thread to "Melfy Talk .." ( Thread: Debunker Talk LIVE Chat 24/7 - A debunker's paradise!! (Page 1068) ) I was in several threads trying to debunk the Nancy BS.
