Anonymous Coward User ID: 176293 06/12/2009 05:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That is not yet the trigger for war, but a clear indication that they are not "unhappy" if that would lead to it. North Korea is basically just saying indirectly that the industrial complex is no longer available for South Korea to use, it belongs now fully to North Korea. This is actually one of the things that was standing in the way of open prelude to war. I was wondering about it myself, this just creates too much "friendship" between the countries. I can really see that North Korea feels very confident about their capabilities. That is, they have the nuke, and aren't afraid to use it. I am not sure if NK is just doing this to elevate their "status" in the world, or if they are really picking a fight. Just don't know. Anyway, to mee it seems that at least NK is in full preparations for war, if not for war, than at least for a war-like showoff. So let's see... if I were B. Obama, and not B. O'mama, I would probably order the entire NK territory to be bombed back to the stoneage. Overnight. The area is not really that big, it would be doable. Surprise attack, the famous pre-emptive strike. In this case I think the doctrine would actually be justified. |

Robert46 User ID: 690457 United States 06/12/2009 06:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He is using the same tactics Hitler used to start the invasion of Poland... demanding outrageous stuff so the other party won't accept so they can have a pretext to attack... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 700872You know, for a number of years, the North and the South had common ``industrial zones`` where North Korean workers worked with South Koreans... Now, North Korea asked yesterday for a raise of 400% in salaries for it's 40.000 workers (from 75$ to 300$)...and a raise of 3125% in rent for the complex they use to work. (from 16 millions to 500 millions) [link to www.spacewar.com] By making those outrageous demands, like Hitler asking Poland to give up half of it's country to Germany, he hopes that SK won't accept so he can have a pretext and an example to show that SK don't want reunification with NK... a pretext for war. And SK just rejected the NK demands... War? Kinda resembles what Bush did and then complained about North Korea following his example! |

The country is dependent on foreign aid. Due to the economic crisis, foreign aid has decreased causing social economic problems within North Korea. They are blackmailing other countries to provide more foreign aid under the threat of nuclear proliferation: if you don't give us more money, we will conduct more nuclear testing and we have the right to sell our nuclear technology. That and coupled with the internal strife due to the change of powers within North Korea and we have an unstable mixture. |

Nuke test? Its always been a bluff before. Boy who cried wolf. Is the regime change/stroke enough of a game changer? Who is really calling the shots? Lots of guesswork in the west and region. Rule 1: know your enemy. Do we? |
