My gf's young son just called me to tell me he wants to go home because all they do is sit around watching FOX news on every TV in the house at full blast (grandparents are hard of hearing).

They used to be really friendly, outgoing, and entertaining people. Since 9/11 all they do is watch fox and revel in the hate. GF's grandmother is afraid to leave the house, doesn't drive anymore, just sits around soaking up the hate and disinformation like a sponge. Nobody wants to go over there anymore because her grandmother constantly steers the conversation toward ignorant and hateful rants about her totally misinformed perception of the world.

Its sad.
