If you're talented (or even mildly creative), you can make a lot of money going to craft shows, flea markets, and selling your wares to local stores.
My boyfriend and I live basically paycheck to paycheck since I got laid off. I "work" here and there, but it's not steady, and his business is hit or miss. We know what it's like to scrape by and rack our brains looking for ways to cultivate some extra income to at least be stable (not looking to be millionaires, ya know?)
I'm a sculptor, and I never thought of selling my pieces because it was just that -- art for me and those close to me. Now that lots of people have seen my stuff, I get offers and commissioned work when I'm not looking for it. Even doing something as small as making Christmas ornaments (people eat that shit up, especially the hoity-toity craft show goers) can turn into some extra cash. Working small, now I have those interested in full-size pieces at great selling prices. Sure, you have to put out some money to get supplies, but make sure you price your items right and you can profit.
Let your creative juices flow, make bird houses with old metal, or windchimes with flatware. The possibilities are endless, and there's always going to be someone who's interested in buying. Cheers!
