Bingo!
Did you understand that, Dr Postman? The moon turns with the Earth as it is glued to it, it drives it so to speak.
Do you really believe that the moon is spinning on it's axis around the Earth in perfect synchronicity so it's one side only exposed? Really? What are the odds of that?
And, if we could somehow stop the moon from rotating (hypothetical) or slow it down somehow, do you think it would stay at that speed or stay stopped?
Or could it eventually become synchronous with Earth's orbit again?
 Quoting: User # 78/68

I know what a Barycenter is. And I know that if you took out
the Earth the Moon would still appear to rotate on it's own
axis at the rate of one rotation for every 27.3 days.

Nancy's words are these:
"No dork, YOU are attempting to put words in Elle's link. That link does NOT say the Moon rotates, it says it orbits.
The Moon is not turning, which is rotation, is it glued to the Earth, one side of it glued to the Earth and the other side perpetually facing outward from the Earth. This is different than 'rotation'"
--4/30/2006 8:26 AM Re: ZetaTalk : on BLOG Radio Schedule May 3

The odds are pretty good since Tidal Lock is a far from rare
phenomena in our own solar system.

I've posted this diagram before. It's makes it clear that the
Moon rotates on it's own axis:
[link to www.bautforum.com]

It explains how Grant, a former sycophant of Nancy until he
got busted for arguing with himeself on GLP, is wrong about
the Moon's rotation.

It should be simple enough to grasp.

Re: Zetatalk debunker threads are hilarious ...Quote

Is there a ZetaTalk explaining why the Moon does not rotate? I looked on ZetaTalk.com and couldn't find anything.

We have made the statement that the Moon itself does not rotate. The Moon completes its orbit every 28 days while it has one-half of its sphere constantly facing the Earth, glued to the Earth. Thus, the Moon orbits but does not rotate. If the Moon were not in a perpetual dance with the Earth, it would not move at all. Rotation is driven by a liquid or semi-liquid core, not homogeneous, which has parts that attempt to move toward attractants and other parts which attempt to escape elements that repulse. The core is swirling about, like a dog chasing its tail. The Earth would rotate even without the presence of the Sun or other planets nearby. The Moon would not.

I guess you have quoted Zetatalk, here, but you gave no link.

Apparently, "Zetas" say that the Moon DOES NOT ROTATE. So, User, why are you saying the opposit?

I guess it went over your head Menow.

It moon orbits the Earth and as it does this it appears to rotate or spin, always keeping the same side facing us. Why is this so hard for you?

Semantic games ... and you play them Menow, you have since you started posting here at GLP.

I agree with what was said above. The semantics game you love so much MeNow is cute. (spin, rotate, turn, orbit) pick one.

You said you agreed with the "Zeta" explanation of why the moon rotates, but they say it does NOT rotate. What is semantic about that? How can you agree with something you have clearly not understood and can't synopsize without contradicting?

By the way, "rotate" and "orbit" are not the same thing at all, so which do you mean?

The moon orbits the Earth, and it appears to spin or rotate as it does this. Is this so hard for you to understand?
 Quoting: User # 78/68

1) You equated "rotate" and "orbit", before, and I asked you which you meant, as they are not synonymous. Why can't you EVER answer a direct question with a direct answer? You coyly pretend you never said that and now equate "spin" and "rotate", which ARE fairly synonymous.

However...

2) No... the Moon "appears" NOT to rotate to those on the ground with no understanding of astronomy. When you watch the Moon can you see all sides of it? No. That means it APPEARS not to rotate, so why are you saying the opposit?

Since you got here and started posting at GLP you always play semantic games with others.
 Quoting: User # 78/68

How about sticking with the facts for a change? Kindly address the above. You still seem VERY confused as to the "ZETA" claim you "agree with".

Re: Zetatalk debunker threads are hilarious ...Quote

The stars rise and set on the Moon. It rotates, spins, whatever you call it.

It is tidally locked with the Earth. That is not unusual, as all SORTS of Moons in the solar system are tidally locked to their primaries. They ALL rotate, spin, whatever you call it.

If Earth vanished, the Moon would CONTINUE to spin, rotate, whatever you call it. It would revolve once every 28 days or so.

If the Sun lasted long enough, the Earthless Moon would eventually tidally lock to the Sun.

Come to think of it, the same would happen to the Earth. If the Sun lasted well beyond the five billion years its estimated to last, Earth would have the time to tidally lock to it, with the same face looking at the Sun all the time. Yet, the stars would move overhead, because the rate of Earth's spin would match its orbit around the Sun.

Nancy's 'does not spin' argument is completely semantic on its face. If the Moon did NOT spin, the stars and Sun should not rise or set on the Moon. Yet, we watch this happening every month with the phases of the Moon.

Nancy's wrong. She's playing every semantic game possible to avoid admitting this.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 658394

Yes, it's hilarious how those who throw around the word "semantics" can't see Nancy's MASSIVE use of it to dodge hard questions.

Stop it from rotating?? Nancy claims(and you say you agree) that it is NOT ROTATING now, so what do you mean??

Or could it eventually become synchronous with Earth's orbit again?
 Quoting: User # 78/68

It matters not one whit WHY the Moon rotates at the rate it does. This question has already been posed before. If the Moon rotated once in 35 days, no one would say it didn't rotate. If it then slowly speeds up, for WHATEVER reason, till it's what it is today and rotates once for every orbit, how can you say it has then STOPPED rotating?? It has SPED UP its rotational speed, for Chris' sakes! How can you/Nancy/Zetas/whomever claim that it has then STOPPED rotating?????????

I went through an entire discussion of this statement of Nancy's:

"Thus for the Moon to be rotating, it must be spinning about its OWN axis, not glued to something else and thus changing its position when that something else moves. If you hold a book in front of you, pages to your nose, and turn in a complete circle, the BOOK did not turn in a circle, YOU did."

Both were turning, Nancy.

The discussion involved the example of a spinning figure skater and her extended hand, which is no different than Nancy's held book or the Earth/Moon. Is the skater's extended hand rotating as she spins? No, you say? Really? Then what parts of the skater ARE rotating? Keep removing allegedly non-rotating parts until you get down to what you say *IS* rotating. Oh, you now say the skater's hand *IS* rotating? Then so is the held book, and the Moon.
