'Main agents' behind Tehran unrest arrested

Iran's Intelligence Minister Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Eje'i
Iran's Intelligence Ministry says that it has arrested a number of 'main agents', who masterminded the recent post-election violence in Tehran.

"The Intelligence Ministry has identified and arrested a number of the main agents and elements behind acts of vandalism in recent days in Tehran," said Intelligence Minister Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Eje'i.

He added that the Intelligence Ministry has a responsibility to arrest and prosecute members of 'some groups which enter public rallies and attempt to cause unrest and chaos'.

Earlier Wednesday, the Intelligence Ministry provided the country's parliament with a report of the recent unrest, which has so far resulted in the death of eight people.

In Tehran, Anti-riot police have clashed with supporters of defeated presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi, who reject the election as fraudulent. The clashes spread to the Tehran University dormitory on Sunday.

Iran's parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has blamed the Interior Ministry for the raid on the dorm and attacks on civilians.

On Wednesday, Iran's Interior Minister, Sadeq Mahsouli, ordered an investigation into the attacks

FFS, it was the Western PLACED Shah who demolished their Constitution and served as a dictator from 1953 until 1979 when the people overthrew the gov in a revolution. Since 1979, they rewrote and re-established their constitution, established the Islamic Republic of Iran (theocratic republic) via a 98% vote of support, regained control of their natural resources (kicked out big oil), and regained control of their banking. They have had EIGHT presidents since 1979.

Iranians are well educated and can create the change themselves if they so desire. It's no one else's business.

Did any of you notice how GAIA showed up after a few days and tried to blame the CIA for Irans destabiliztion?

That is because GAIA ( or one her Israeli right wing buddies ) got caught manipulating the Iranian election.

And they are so low and sleazy, they tried to blame the last friend they had on Earth, the Unites States.

The entire world is aware of their actions now.

Re: Proof: Israeli Effort to Destabilize Iran Via TwitterQuote

In response to our recent post, which traced the bulk of the #IranElection twitter spam back to an article in JPost rather than “Iranian Students”, the Jerusalem newspaper has removed the evidence by altering their June 14th article (luckily, we kept the screenshot). JPost has also written a response to our allegations.

We argued that the onslaught of #IranElection tweets may not have been the work of “Iranian students” as claimed but rather a group of people promoting the political interests of the right-wing of Israeli politics with the aim of magnifying the social unrest which followed the Iranian election.

In researching the origin of the thousands of tweets and retweets, we noticed that only a hand full of people were at the core of the #IranElection spam. After preforming a simple google search which sought to find when/where 2 of these people were mentioned together we found a JPost article which became the basis of our assertion.

Only hours after creating their twitter profiles, JPost ran an article which instructed their readers to follow on twitter for up to date coverage of the Iran election. JPost was the first and only major news source that posted the links to these twitter accounts which would later become the source of most of the #IranElection spam.

Here is how the article looked at the time (Click for a better shot):jpost
And how it looks today: Notice that the 4th paragraph no longer provides the links to the 3 spammers which went on to become the source of much of the tweets.

jpost2Now, I realize that I’ll be accused of somehow doctoring the first image so I’ve also attached a screenshot of the Google search results (see below) for “StopAhmadi AND IranRiggedElect,” which are two of the three spammers. You can also check the search results for yourself (At this time google is still indexing the old version).

google

Of course, the editing of their original article begs another important question. WHY?? If my accusations were so ridiculous why would JPost remove the evidence which was at the core of my argument?? This does not help their case.

In response to our article, JPost Managing Editor Shani Rosenfelder writes “Our coverage of events in Iran is guided solely by professional journalistic considerations.”

The newspaper, in an attempt to debunk our allegations, writes:

“The “proof” [of our article] cited was an online entry published on Sunday on the Post’s “The Persian Abyss” blog, in which three very active Iranian Twitterers, whose tweets were widely circulated, were mentioned as part of an online documentation of Iranians’ reaction to the election results on social media outlets.”

At the time of that article, however, those three members had JUST JOINED twitter only hours earlier. Furthermore, JPost changed their original post which cites those “three very active Iranian Twitterers.” They disappeared. They are referring to that portion which they removed.

JPost was nice enough to refrain from personal attacks and even included the disclaimer:

“The writer allows that he does not think that the violence in Iran is a “Jewish conspiracy” because he is “not an anti-semite” and even claims that he is “half-Jewish.” Instead he maintains that “these are the workings of the extreme right-wing of Israeli politics” since “Israel perceives Iran as an enemy, more so than any other nation.”

I do appreciate the decency of the writer and while I find the article to be fair in its tone it neglected to directly answer the lingering questions -

Why did they run a story about 3 people who just joined twitter? “…part of an online documentation of Iranians’ reaction” does not explain why it was newsworthy to promote the profiles of 3 twitter members who just joined the site.

How did they find out about them so fast?

How were they sure that the profiles were authentic? These profiles were only hours old and had no names attached to them. They had no time to verify that these were, indeed, Iranian students.

And the latest:
Why did they remove the evidence if my allegations were so ridiculous?

#4 is for all of you Jews control the world tards

The purpose of this guide is to help you participate constructively in the Iranian election protests through Twitter.

1. Do NOT publicise proxy IP's over twitter, and especially not using the #iranelection hashtag. Security forces are monitoring this hashtag, and the moment they identify a proxy IP they will block it in Iran. If you are creating new proxies for the Iranian bloggers, DM them to @stopAhmadi or @iran09 and they will distributed them discretely to bloggers in Iran.

2. Hashtags, the only two legitimate hashtags being used by bloggers in Iran are #iranelection and #gr88, other hashtag ideas run the risk of diluting the conversation.

3. Keep you bull$hit filter up! Security forces are now setting up twitter accounts to spread disinformation by posing as Iranian protesters. Please don't retweet impetuosly, try to confirm information with reliable sources before retweeting. The legitimate sources are not hard to find and follow.

4. Help cover the bloggers: change your twitter settings so that your location is TEHRAN and your time zone is GMT +3.30. Security forces are hunting for bloggers using location and timezone searches. If we all become 'Iranians' it becomes much harder to find them.

5. Don't blow their cover! If you discover a genuine source, please don't publicise their name or location on a website. These bloggers are in REAL danger. Spread the word discretely through your own networks but don't signpost them to the security forces. People are dying there, for real, please keep that in mind...

They've not been as present as usual these past few days, so I assume they spent their shill time on Twitter.

Edit to add and for the detractors of this theory, please focus your time on the data instead of personal attacks and me.

Yeah, who's to say the Twitter posters were Israeli? Just because they were mentioned in J-Post? Perhaps the first mention was in J-Post because it's the closest English-language paper in the same time zone as Iran? Did anyone check Indian papers at all to see if they carried this either?

What about the US State Department request to Twitter to delay their upgrade? There's plenty of countries that have an interest in Iranian politics, not just Israel.

Just sayin'.

I think this article pretty much sums it up..

[link to www.globalresearch.ca]

Extract from article

Quote
'
What is astonishing about the West’s universal condemnation of the electoral outcome as fraudulent is that not a single shred of evidence in either written or observational form has been presented either before or a week after the vote count. During the entire electoral campaign, no credible (or even dubious) charge of voter tampering was raised. As long as the Western media believed their own propaganda of an immanent victory for their candidate, the electoral process was described as highly competitive, with heated public debates and unprecedented levels of public activity and unhindered by public proselytizing. The belief in a free and open election was so strong that the Western leaders and mass media believed that their favored candidate would win.

Jared Cohen, keeping Iranians twittering

By Eric Fingerhut · June 18, 2009

The State Department staffer who asked Twitter not to shut down for maintenance earlier this week so that Iranians could keep communicating with the world is a 27-year-old Jewish Stanford University graduate who is the youngest member of the State Department policy planning staff, reports the New York Times:

On Monday afternoon, a 27-year-old State Department official, Jared Cohen, e-mailed the social-networking site Twitter with an unusual request: delay scheduled maintenance of its global network, which would have cut off service while Iranians were using Twitter to swap information and inform the outside world about the mushrooming protests around Tehran.

The request, made to a Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey, is yet another new-media milestone: the recognition by the United States government that an Internet blogging service that did not exist four years ago has the potential to change history in an ancient Islamic country. ...

Twitter complied with the request, saying in a blog post on Monday that it put off the upgrade until late Tuesday afternoon — 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in Tehran — because its partners recognized “the role Twitter is currently playing as an important communication tool in Iran.” The network was working normally again by Tuesday evening.

BayNewser has some background on Cohen:

Cohen was only 24 when he was hired into the Policy Planning Staff back in 2006. He'd received an undergraduate degree from Stanford and a master's degree from Oxford, where he'd been on a Rhodes Scholarship. Oh, and he'd also talked his way into a visa for Iran (according to a December 2007 New Yorker profile), where he met young people his own age who threw underground house parties and made alcohol in bathtubs.

"Iranian young people are one of the most pro-American populations in the Middle East," Cohen told the New Yorker. "They just don't know who to gravitate around, so young people gravitate around each other."

Cohen compiled his observations from that trip—and others to Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq—into a book released by Penguin, titled Children of Jihad: A Young American's Travels Among the Youth of the Middle East (selected, by the way, as one of Kirkus Review's "Best Books of 2007").

The site also has a little more about what Cohen is doing at State:

In May, Cohen, whom CNN chose as one of its "Young People Who Rock," organized a trip to Iraq for Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and other new media executives "to discuss how to rebuild the country's information network and to sell the virtues of Twitter," as the Times put it.

According to Federal News Radio, Dorsey has now been working with mobile companies in the Middle East "to establish a short code so that Iraqis can get on Twitter without actually having to have access to the internet."

"I'm a strong believer in the fact that access drives innovation," Cohen told Federal News Radio. "In order for young people to have their innovative minds tapped into, they need to have access to the tools to do it, and I believe that cellphones and the internet will bring that."

The Baynewser piece also includes video of an appearance Cohen made on the Colbert Report, in which he discusses, among other things, telling members of Hezbollah that he is Jewish.

And speaking of Twitter, the Jerusalem Post reports that it is being accused of being part of an "puported Israeli conspiracy to stoke unrest in the Islamic republic":

In an online article entitled "Proof: Israeli Effort to Destabilize Iran Via Twitter" published on the Charting Stocks Web site, the unnamed writer charges: "right-wing Israeli interests are engaged in an all out Twitter attack with hopes of delegitimizing the Iranian election and causing political instability within Iran."

The "proof" cited was an online entry published on Sunday on the Post's "The Persian Abyss" blog, in which three very active Iranian Twitterers, whose tweets are still widely circulated, were mentioned as part of an online documentation of Iranians' reaction to the election results on social media outlets [their usernames were later taken down to protect them].

The article went on: "JPost, a major news organization, promoted these three Twitterers who went on to be the source of the IranElection Twitter bombardment. Why is JPost so concerned about Iranian students all of a sudden (which these spammers claim to be)? I must admit that I had my suspicions. After all, Que Bono? (who benefits)."

The Post responded:

"Needless to say, our coverage of events in Iran is guided solely by professional journalistic considerations," said the managing editor of The Jerusalem Post's Web site, [link to www.jpost.com,] Shani Rosenfelder.

Re: Proof: Israeli Effort to Destabilize Iran Via TwitterQuote

The fact is you don't have any way of knowing if these twitter accounts are from Iran, Israel, or the North Pole.

One of the problems of using Twitter as a news source.
