The issue is whether or not marriage should have federal status under the law.

Marriage is a church act, you are joined as one in the eyes of God - who is supposed to stay separate from state issues under the Constitution.

Does this mean ban all church marriages? No. The legal state of marriage should be two consenting adults - the end. Whether a church sanctifies the marriage or not is up to the church, but the Gov't should keep its nose out of it, as it does most other church matters.
