Social Media, doesn't even really exist as a subset of media. Everything is social now, we just expect it. Social media companies will race to provide metrics that show impressive results, but that's not necessarily a good thing, especially given the ways measurement may shape investment and in turn shape the evolution of social mediums.
Social media campaign's go far beyond the traditional agency model of media planning and buying. So do advertisers they actually get into the game and get their campaign's out there.
Social media is changing the way online businesses advertise because control of the message is shifting to the consumer.
Social Media Optimization (SMO) is a new term that was recently coined by Rohit Bhargava and has since been taking on life of its own. SMO tactics can drive huge amounts of people to a website and can also determine whether a startup, website or idea will make it or not.
Social media will be the optimal place to market especially with a recession. Social networks are a rich source of HIGHLY niche audiences and therefore are highly target-able.

Yeah and that is what scares me. A while back in the thread someone was talking about the Telegraph and how it had leaked a whole bunch of D-Day info in a crossword puzzle before D-Day. I had heard Teardrop not a week earlier on my Pandora. I thought it was funny that I never had heard that song except on House and realized that it was by Massive Attack. Then to get this crap being synchronous to it. The universe is really trying to tell us something. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 676888
The interesting part of this mindfuck: it walks on a thin line between fiction/reality, control/synchronicity/coincidence.
I would use this technique as a way to find out what PERSONALITY a certain forum has. That's usefull stuff and can be lucrative. |

Hillary Clinton to have surgery on broken elbow
WASHINGTON – Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton expects to have surgery next week to repair a broken elbow she suffered in a fall in the State Department garage.
The story has changed a bit, supposedly she´ll have surgery sooner tahnnext week.
The point is ; ALL her Appointments are cancelled.
State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters that no date for the surgery has been set, but that it likely would be scheduled "in the coming week."
He said Clinton was working from home Thursday and had made no decision about whether to go ahead with planned overseas travel, including a scheduled trip next week to Italy and Greece. Clinton canceled her public appointments, including an appearance with actress Angelina Jolie on Thursday morning at a Washington event marking World Refugee Day.
Crowley said Clinton was walking toward her official vehicle in the State Department's basement garage when she fell about 5 p.m. Wednesday. At the time, she and Richard Holbrooke, the administration's coordinator of policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan, were headed to a meeting at the White House.
After the fall, Clinton was examined in her office and then taken to The George Washington University Hospital, just a few blocks away, where her right elbow was X-rayed, Crowley said. He said he did not believe it was a severe fracture, but that he did not know the exact extent of her injury. She returned to her home at about 10 p.m.
"She is deeply appreciative of the professional and kind medical team at the hospital, and thanks the many well-wishers that have already been calling her from around the country and the world, including President Obama, who was one of the first to call her late last night," Crowley said.

Russian nuclear bomber flies undetected to within 20 miles of Hull
By Daily Mail Reporter

Comments (45) Add to My Stories A Russian nuclear stealth bomber was able to fly within 90 seconds of the British coast without being picked up by radar, it was revealed today.
The supersonic ‘Blackjack’ jet flew completely undetected to within just 20 miles from Hull in one of the worst breaches of British security since the end of the Cold War.
RAF radar eventually picked up the plane, but the only two pairs of fighter jets used for air alerts were on other duties.
A Tupoloev 'Blackjack' bomber similar to the jet that flew within 20 miles of the British coast completely undetected
The embarrassing breach late last year has called into question Britain's defence capabilities after four jet squadrons were cut from the RAF’s budget four years ago.
One senior RAF pilot told The Sun: ‘The Russians made us look helpless. It was a disaster - it basically gave the Russians the green light to fly wherever they want.’
The supersonic jet had taken off from Engel's Air Base near Saratov on Russia's Volga delta.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed the incursion took place but said it had a ‘multi-layered’ approach to deterring enemy aircraft.
A spokesman said in a statement: ‘We are satisfied we have the flexibility to launch as many aircraft as the situation requires.’ Quoting: Anonymous Coward 669410
