It might be. It might not be.
If you follow the history of the threads at GLP, you'll see that it started several weeks ago with simply discussions about Black Jack, then at a certain point it went to someone having decoded the barcode, and the latest incident is the revelation of a possible gaming link.
It wouldn't be far-fetched to consider that the gaming aspect was "created" at a certain point when Black Jack had failed due to having been outed through the Telegraph and online.
Equally, it wouldn't be far-fetched to consider it'd been linked to a game since the git-go.
Someone can figure this out. |

Everything is social now, we just expect it. Social media companies will race to provide metrics that show impressive results, but that's not necessarily a good thing, especially given the ways measurement may shape investment and in turn shape the evolution of social mediums.
Social media campaign's go far beyond the traditional agency model of media planning and buying. So do advertisers they actually get into the game and get their campaign's out there.
Social media is changing the way online businesses advertise because control of the message is shifting to the consumer.
Social Media Optimization (SMO) is a new term that was recently coined by Rohit Bhargava and has since been taking on life of its own. SMO tactics can drive huge amounts of people to a website and can also determine whether a startup, website or idea will make it or not.
Social media will be the optimal place to market especially with a recession. Social networks are a rich source of HIGHLY niche audiences and therefore are highly target-able.

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 705737 6/18/2009 3:34 PM | | Re: operation blackjack another hidden message | Quote | So did the Odegard/Optimus message even appear on the jackblack site?
What Im think here is that this was an awesome idea intended to confound people for a long time. When the codes starting being broken rather quickly, I think some quick codes were thrown up to make people think it was about Tom Clancy or Transformers (did Clancy ever actually appear in a code???).
So, it is not out of the question that Odegard could be involved, and the name was snuck in along with others just because it was a rash decision to use a nonsense word and he happened to be in the room...
If THAT is true (wild guess), then his company still works for the military, and this still could be a test of how quickly the public can detect government propaganda. |
