passenger helped land it!

MYFOXNY.COM - A pilot at the controls of Continental Airlines Flight 61 died during the flight.

Port Authority officials say the plane was en route to Newark Liberty International Airport from Brussels, Belgium. The plane landed safely just before noon.

The airport was covered in fog and rainy conditions. The flight received priority landing status.

Fox 5 News reported that the co-pilot took control of the plane, along with a passenger who was also a pilot.

The plane was is a Boeing 777 with 247 passengers on board.

The Associated Press reports that Continental Airlines says a pilot who died in mid-flight was a 61-year-old man with more than 20 years of service to the airline. Airline spokeswoman Kelly Cripe says the pilot died of natural causes.

They just raised the manditory retirement age for most pilots from 60 to 65.

Its too bad he didn't recognize the warning signs because they are apparent weeks before most fatal attacks.
Its obvious that he didnt have high blood pressure if he was certified.

Then again, maybe he had other reasons not to see a doctor regularly.

This is no big deal and happens more than people know.

I am a pilot and spent 18 years in the Chief Pilot's office of a major airline...

Not a good week for Continental, what with putting two kids on the wrong flights and now this. My prayers go out to the pilots family.
