I saw Jimmy Carter getting out of a limo, waiting to go into the church, and another limo pulled up, and who stepped out? Fidel Castro. I saw Castro immediately walk up to Carter, and shake his hand. Spent two weeks in there, and hated to come out. Quiet, except for the ocean, and the wind. A magical place, and you and I are, I'm sure two, of not very many who have been there. Came back out Pololu, ran into some wild cows, who were as surprised to see us as we were to see them. This was in the late seventies. The Big Island was still quite rural. Left in 92, because my folks were sick. Funny, I have no memory of leaving Kona. |
