Iran "wiping Israel off the map" does not mean bombing Israel with a nuclear bomb

If Iran wants to "wipe" Israel off the map by a nuclear bomb, then what will the rest of the Islamic world do to Iran when Jerusalem, the third (or fourth) holiest site in all of Islam, is destroyed? Jerusalem is indeed one of Islam's holiest sites and the Dome of the Rock found within its borders is the oldest structure in all of Islam. To destroy Jerusalem by a nuclear blast is completely absurd in the eyes of any good Muslim.

So why the confusion? It is because in English, the phrase "wipe off the map" has a figurative meaning which conjures up images of using force to achieve some end.

a) Iran wants the nuclear bomb.
b) Iran wants to look at any map of the Middle East without seeing the "interloping" nation of Israel.
c) Iran does not want to bomb Israel with a nuclear bomb in order to achieve a Middle Eastern map free of Israel.
