Nixon Tapes Show Homophobia, Racism
New White House tapes were released Tuesday that reveal former president Richard Nixon’s views on Vietnam, abortion, and "the queers."

The tapes, which feature conversations with, among others, former secretary of State Henry Kissinger, took place in January and February of 1973.

In a conversation with aide Charles Colson Nixon said his political adversaries include intellectuals in addition to "the blacks ... the poor ... the lavender shirt mob ... the homos and the queers."

In a previously released tape, Nixon went on a lengthy homophobic tirade, in which he blamed the fall of ancient Greece on gays. "You ever see what happened to the Greeks? Homosexuality destroyed them." Nixon then went on to say that he has no problem with gays. "I do not mind the homosexuality ... but what do you think that does to kids?" "We constantly had to clean up the staffs [of Boys Clubs] to keep the goddamned fags out of them," he said in a conversation on May 13, 1971.

The newly released tapes also reveal Nixon's stance on abortion, which he believed was sometimes prudent. "There are times when abortions are necessary ...suppose you have a black and a white, or a rape."

The recordings also include Nixon's remarks on South Vietnamese president Nguyen Van Thieu in the face of Van Thieu's hesitance to sign a peace treaty. Nixon proposed to put a stop to U.S. assistance to South Vietnam if he did not sign the treaty. "I don't know whether the threat goes too far or not," he said to Kissinger. "I'd do any damn thing ... cut off his damn head if necessary."

The conversations were part of 154 hours of tapes released by the Richard Nixon Library and Museum.

Re: Nixon Tapes Show Homophobia, Racism
In a just and moral society Nixon would be correct. America is no longer a just and moral society.

It is a plantation state in the British Empire. Slaves should have no morals.
