Orange flamelike objects floating in sky | |
SoulDarkness User ID: 710416 United States 06/25/2009 01:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I actually saw something like that in the beginning of May. I was outside smoking a cigg. and I see an orange light in the sky not moving but like "pulsating" not 10 minutes later I hear jet engines and I see an aircraft come screaming overhead towards this "light". I run inside to get a camera come back out and it was gone. Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict. |

The Original Alfalfa User ID: 1000053 United States 07/05/2010 12:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just happened to see two of these this evening around 9:43 pm. I had my convertible top down and I saw this flame in the sky. At first I didn't know what to think, then I said "maybe its a balloon flight, but I turned down the music in my car and nothing but silence, the flame stayed the same height and just kept drifting from Northwest to Southeast. It started to float/drift faster once it moved over my car. I thought "maybe a kid caught a bag on fire and it was floating in the air", but that would have burned up by now. It drifted farther and farther Southeast into the sky very high. It wasn't a falling star because it didn't fall to the earth. Later I saw a second one from my front yard about 20 minutes later. It was the same size and moved at the same pace as the first one I saw. It was a flame moving in the sky with nothing attached to it. I have planes that pass over my home all the time moving Southwest to Northeast with red and green blinking lights and Noise! The orange flame I saw had NO NOISE complete silence. It had no flashing lights, it literally looked like a flame from a fire that has a steady burn. What are these things? has anyone else seen them before. Today is June 24th and this occured in Plainfield, IL. Quoting: lisal 711162Its happening here in Kalifornia LLOOK OUT DOOM!!!! |

CestLaVie User ID: 1010415 United States 07/14/2010 01:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I saw this in 1993 going across the desert, perfectly straight from west to east, I was sitting watching a meteor shower and it glided over. It maintained a steady altitude and floated across the sky toward local hills. What got me is it went directly over my head. From this vantage point underneath it looked like a giant glowing cigarette end, or a glowing coal, that is why when I read about the flying bag or balloon theory I could not figure it out. I actually went driving out the next day to look for the end point, before I knew people let off stuff like this. I still do not know why the underside glowed like a coal. I thought it was from the meteor shower and was a strange meteor? Truth, with no sugar. Love,p |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1035445 Australia 07/14/2010 01:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yep. 2005 on a night flight to Europe. Big ball of orange fire slowly moving through the sky, passed through to beneath the clouds below us. This was a NIGHT flight, so NO it wasn't the sun. It was inside our atmosphere, saw it eye level as I was looking out the window. Funny thing was only a minute or 2 later the flight attendants went down the aisle making sure everyone had their blinds closed. Odd thing to do considering it was night time. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1034721 United States 07/14/2010 02:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What shape was it OP? The UFO I saw in Jan of '98 in WI about 20 miles from lake Michigan caught my attention because I thought the neighbors' houses must be on fire. Saw it peripherally out the window when I got up in the middle of the night to make the baby a bottle. Went back to the window to look when I thought it was a fire, but it was slightly ovate hanging there in the sky. NOT the moon, I could see the moon out the kitchen window. It looked like fire, like molten metal in a crucible. Turns out, as the crow flies, it was hovering less than a quarter mile from a small transformer station...I now think it was charging up and wonder who was driving it, but suspect it was our govt behind it. |

Brian User ID: 1211980 United States 12/30/2010 07:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In the fall of 2007, myself and a girlfriend were driving on an overpass (I-75 at Missionary ridge), in Chattanooga Tn. To the NW about 200-250 yards away, at about 1000ft. It may have been about 100-150ft higher than my position. Considering my distance, object may have been 10-20 ft in hight X 5-8ft wide. It appeared to be an dirty orange ball of fire, with flames licking off the top. It looked the same as when plastic or rubber burns, dark flames and it appeared as if greasy black smoke was rising from it. We were at a stop when watching. It didnt move in the least, except for the "flames" licking from the topside. We watched for about a minute or two. Then, it just abruptly stopped and dissapeared. It was over bright city lights. Had it been a balloon or any solid object it would have been seen against the sky. Aint buying the Chinese lantern bull, and have reserched ball lightning. Wasnt it either. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1202985 United States 12/30/2010 07:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Chinese lanterns are cool. Somebody let a bunch of them go one night in the summer and I watched one slowly sink down like a ghost after its fire went out. I ran over to the empty parking lot and scooped it up. It was a big white nonflammable sack, with a wire hoop around the bottom with wires attached to sides of the hoop forming a crosshair, with a little place for burning material in the center of the crosshair. I kept it in the garage for several years, and then the other day I took it out and wrapped some old rag around the center of the crosshair, doused it with kerosene (jet fuel), lit it, and the thing filled up with hot air and went floating away like a big white ghost, with black smoke trailing it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1211887 Germany 12/30/2010 07:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Floating fires: very easy! It´s Chinese lanterns. They have a small fire inside and they fly, carried by the wind. People are usually amazed to see them suddenly "accelerating" and disappearing. That´s an illusion: it´s just when the fire dies out or when the lantern ruptures, causing the lantern to drop toward the ground. |

If something happens, it´s not longer lots of fun. |
