A night honoring Caribbean culture at a popular I-Drive theme park is marred by allegations that a guest raped a 14-year-girl.

The victim told Orlando police investigators she was dancing in the wave pool at Wet 'n Wild just before midnight on Saturday when a man pulled down her bikini top and bottom, grabbed her breast and raped her with his hand.

Records show the incident happened during the water park's 10th annual Fiesta San Juan -- a traditional Puerto Rican holiday celebrated in late June by jumping backward into the ocean at the stroke of midnight.

Officers said they were made aware of the sexual battery when a man, carrying the teenage girl, approached them near the entrance of the pool.

She told police several men had "picked her up and passed her around in the air" before the suspect attacked her, the police report shows. The victim said she had to grab her bikini top to keep it from falling off after the suspect had unfastened it.

The report shows the girl began "swinging her arms and fought to get away" from the suspect. She also punched the man in the face during the struggle.

The victim also told investigators more than one man in the wave pool had tried removing her swim wear, but she could only identify the man who placed his hand inside her bikini bottom.

David Wright, marketing director for Wet 'n Wild, did not comment about the sexual battery or security at the theme park.

In an e-mail to the Orlando Sentinel, he wrote: "The safety of our guests is our top priority and we believe we have appropriate safety and security procedures in place. . . . We are cooperating with OPD."

Orlando police records show few crimes have been reported at the theme park. Most of the 41 crimes investigated by officers dealt with larcenies, thefts from vehicles, assaults and accidents that could have occurred inside or outside the property.

Sgt. Barbara Jones of the Orlando Police Department said the alleged rape is under investigation.

This is why, even though it's summer, kids shouldn't be out past ten. My dad used to take us swimming at midnight in the super hot summer nights when we were kids, but we had to stay in his sight at all times or we'd have to leave.
