I don't see that they will have a choice. I have to think that many people in the world will humble themselves and accept the knowledge and experience of their elders once the rest of them die or kill themselves. Wow...I hope I do not sound too depressing.

You are right though...we will need people to pull together with different skills..those still alive from the FIRST depression or any knowledge they left behind will help.

I learned alot of things from my grandmother and mother about surviving through the depression, especially about how to add things to meals to make them go a little further...the info I have learned will be quite useful (it really already is) but I'm not so sure the younger ones will know what to do without Subway and McDonald's...

First of all, look around you, is there any mechanized industry that can be changed into manual labor once again.

The way I see it, we've helped mechanize this world and allowed big corporations to replace our workforce by machines, they've made millions by pushing for the fast and easy buck, they had their chance now is the time to take back the jobs.

Do away with anything that is mechanical and can be done by hand, that creates labor, if nobody pushes this, things are only going to get worse or perhaps you can come up with a better plan?

Re: Layoff Daily
If your holding your breath to have something done by Government you'll die before they do anything. Their interest is solely on big corporations.

Small business that employ people will be the business to survive the crisis, they employ people for a reason because they know they can do the job right and they know for a fact that employee's that love their jobs will show loyalty and try their best to help sustain the business in times of trouble. Just watch and see.

Its been on the news that the recession here in Canada is being upheld by small business, NOT large corporations who were greedy and are going under because of their lack of interest in the people who worked and slaved for them and made mega bucks for them.

Re: Layoff Daily
This is a letter I wrote to our Canadian Government which happens to be Prime Minister Mr. Harper.

Dear Mr. Harper:

I'm concerned about the economy seeing the way things are going and I'd like to make a suggestion, I'm thinking of the job losses that we are suffering at this moment.

Since the economy is slowing down why not slow down the way things are done, such as mechanized industries and go towards labor where men are employed to do the job.

As an example I live in the north and we have a wealth of snow, as I stood outside my workplace I saw three loaders clearing the snow and I said to myself 'I wonder how these machines are earning an hour', now lets suppose that they earn $100.00 dollars each an hour, here's my math, 100.00 x 3 = 300.00 (even if we reduce it to 50.00 or less) so lets assume they earn 300.00 an hour, if we would employ men to do the work we would be implementing 30 men to work to clear the snow @ $10.00 an hour, it would mean work for the men. There are plenty of area's where this could be done we just need to put on our thinking caps.

We're concerned about the big corporations when in fact putting idle hands to work would be good for the moral of our people and also would prevent what is currently happening in the United States from happening here, this is of great concern for me, too many people are getting discouraged and taking their lives or those of others, this is serious. We the people worked diligently to help those big corporation attain their success and now its time that we start thinking of the people since we saw from past experiences that big corporations are only interested in the money and not the people. As my employer said 'you are replaceable' the value of keeping a good working employee seems not to matter anymore, we need to step away from the money factor and focus on the people.

I sincerely hope that my letter is read and given thought, we need to make drastic changes since the world is currently experiencing the same thing all over and we could become leaders in the way we do things. Our banks are holding on therefore allow the people to survive in putting the unemployed to work.
