I'm not so sure that makes sense. Got anything to back that up? Thanks!

i have done alot of calculations recently. if that object hits the sun, big balls of plasma/cme's will be ejected towards earth. our magnetishpere will try and protect us, but unfortunately we have a big hole in it. the volcano that blew in russia last week, also blew a hole in our ozone layer. in conclusion, most of the plasma will be deflected by the magnetishpere but some matter will get in. thus causing a aurora borealis...

"The Israelites feared that he would not return and asked Aaron to make gods for them. Aaron complied and gathered up the Israelites' golden earrings. He melted them and constructed the golden calf. Aaron also built an altar before the calf. and the next day, the Israelites made offerings and celebrated.
The Lord told Moses that his people had corrupted themselves, and he planned to eliminate them. However, Moses argued and pleaded that they should be spared, and the Lord relented. Moses went down from the mountain, but upon seeing the calf, he too became angry. He threw down the tablets upon which God's law had been written, breaking them. Moses burnt the golden calf in a fire, ground it to powder, scattered it on water, and forced the Israelites to drink it. Aaron admitted collecting the gold, throwing it into the fire, and said it came out as a calf. Moses then gathered the sons of Levi and set them to slaying a large number of men. A plague struck the Israelites. Nevertheless, the Lord stated that he would one day visit the Israelites' sin upon them."

Planet sized unknown object is quickly approaching the Sun. The object in question can clearly be seen in the Stereo Behind COR 2 imagery . At this time the course of this object will pass dangerously close to or will actually hit the Sun around the equator . This is not a charted object and is not a planet .

Humor, yes, you are right and it's good for all of us!
Me thinks the Sun has already been hit...it's starting to fall down in the sky...not good...not good at all... We gladly feast on those who would subdue us.
the sun will eat it like always
................. It may , It depends on the composition of the object and what type of matter it might be made of. There is an active AR moving towards the face of the Sun that could set of a flare as the result of the impact . To these questions I know not of the answer . But good observation is a must at this point . This is the second such object that has moved in from that general direction
The video I posted earlier on this thread of Comet C/2009 G1 was from a brand new type of comet that is not designated from any class or family. Not much is known about the size of this object though it seems to be rather large . It also has come in much like comet lulin so with the latter in mind this would make the 3rd one of these to come in this year alone from that general direction

WOW, some serious shit is happening in "that direction".
what is it?

How the fuck does anyone think this is doom? Do you know how fucking hot the sun is? The corona ('atmosphere' of the sun) is a million god damned degrees kelvin. Anything that approaches it will be destroyed. And even if a giant rock hit the surface of the sun, who fucking cares? It's a ball of plasma, it will absorb it and not care. Jesus fucking Christ.
Actually the sun at its core is 27 million degrees F

Wow, you're right! And yet, you can't even read, because if you could I'm fairly certain that you would have seen "The corona ('atmosphere' of the sun) is a million god damned degrees kelvin." and not "the sun is only a million degrees."
But hey, thanks for playing anyway.
is that it's Venus. If you look at the inset diagram at the upper left, earth is the blue dot, and the STEREO B spacecraft would be a bit more than 45 degrees to the lower left of the Sun-earth line, so Venus would appear to the right of the Sun from STEREO B. (So would Mars, but it would be a lot fainter.) The apparent size of the object shouldn't be taken too seriously in these "space weather beacon" images, which are reduced from their native size of 2048 x 2048 pixels to 256 x 256 (and in this case blown up again) and very heavily compressed, which creates artifacts.
I'm copying this to a colleague at the home institution for the SECCHI instrument suite, who might be able to say more definitively which planet it is. (Unfortunately, our tool for displaying where the STEREO spacecraft are relative to the inner planets is not available right now; we hope to have it up again after the holiday weekend.)
A few days after we get the beacon data, we get the native-
resolution images, and they can be used to make movies like:
Good job. This is a reasonable explanation (except for the STEREO tool being unavailable at a time when many people are looking at the photos). Thanks for going to the source.

Venus, eh? Would explain the brightness of it. I'd have thought Venus would be further off to the right though. Perhaps we're overlooking something...
... ah, of course. I'm an idiot. I'd been reasoning based on the idea that the picture was five Sun-widths across. But it isn't. The filter in front of the camera is far larger than needed to block out the Sun - in order also to cut out the flares, the prominences and the corona, the better to study the solar wind. See that little white circle at the centre, inside the large blacked-out region? THAT'S the Sun.
So the picture's wider than I'd thought. That could be Venus. I still kind of think it's more likely to be Mercury though, given that it's moved noticeably in just a few hours.
Makes sense. Hate to be a non-doomer here, but I think this is looking like a natural thing. I guess we'll know during the next update of the site one way or another though :)

Independance day was playing almost non stop over the last few weekends.
Just to play devils advocate, whatever is moving into the field of view on the OP's link, does not mean it will collide with the sun. The image is two dimensional, so the object could be anywhere in the field of view, meaning it could be a million or more (or less) miles in front of, or in back of, the sun.
