So did we crash Stereo site or it crashed by itself?

StatusBoth STEREO spacecraft are currently performing as expected and taking science data on a regular basis.

The STEREO Science Center website is currently down. We hope to have up and operating again in a few days. In the meantime, the alternate anonymous ftp server is available at stereoftp.nascom.nasa.gov.

I doubt it's the traffic. It's not as if there are THAT many of us poking at it. Hopefully they're updating that location finder, it hadn't changed in a few days.

You can get today's imaging from STEREO-B here:

Re: Unknown object quickly approaching the SunQuote

My theory is that we are all already dead , and we are all just ghosts imagining that we're still alive.

Mine is that we are repeating the past until we get the outcome right which maybe never - sorta like a rubiks cube but with many many more variables - many depending on our influence on others ... as it has been it will be

here is the video from youtube (March 22, 2009)

Got an astronomy friend to confirm. What it is NOT - is Mercury. It is an unknown object, on a collision course with the sun.

The camera's designed to pick up the very faint light from the outer corona. Mercury's terrifically bright compared to that, so it dazzles the sensor, and the light spills over to neighbouring pixels in an unpredictable way dependent on the exact details of the optics and the detector.

i was able to sleep last night by convincing myself it is mercury. Today again I feel it is not Mercury and that there is significance to this object.
Moreover, crop circles pointing at July 7th only make the matter more notable.

Re: Unknown object quickly approaching the SunQuote

Can someone positively verify that this is Mercury or Venus or whatever. 22 pages and I'm still none the wiser...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 715610

we're expecting for the OP to say something. he is pretty much *convinced* (so it seemed) that it's some sort of anomalous comet, similar to C/2009 G1-stereo

[link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov]

that was in a near collision course with the Sun, but he stopped posting many pages ago.

The majority of others have good arguments that it "must" be Mercury, but not even the guy at NASA seems to know what it is!:-)

A poster asked them, at page 9 or 10, and they responded that it would "probably" be Venus(!) but they were not certain either.("Never A Straight Answer" comes to mind... lol)
