Well you would hope historic landmarks and recognised heritage buildings would be exempt from such a law if it is passed in the way suggested by the article. Otherwise a lot of tangible history will be destroyed.
And as some posts have suggested, if the cost to retrofit a house is more than the house is worth, then it may be cheaper to either destroy the house or just let it rot.

The word from the Green Energy Council is that President Obama will be giving voters a rationale explanation that makes all of this appear to be a simple pro-savings incentive plan. (BTW, this is another one of those bills Congress members were not allowed to read, so go figure.) The 'good thing' is that he is doling out stimulus money to sttes for the training to do all this so-called certification. This means some trendsetters can finish college and actually get work rating people's homes. If you do not privately undertake an energy audit, an auditor will come to all who do not submit an itemized return claiming the deduction--essentially a penalty for not going solar, using double-pane windows, etc.
Be wise and take the classes, bro, these are potentially the last service jobs for Americans.

Does anybody doubt while they are in your house they will be looking around? Guns, stored food, anything that says you might be an extremist. Oh and another thing when I made this thread the other day I wasn't even aware of a provision in the Cap and Trade bill that will make it a misdemeanor if you deny them entry into your home to do energy audits. These audits will have to be done to give every home an energy rating.

Our furnace & A/C is already 93% efficiency, I don't see how it can be any better. It's already been insulated throughout, so we are good there. And we've installed 2 new windows that are airtight. Just need to replace the rest of them.
The water heater is a high efficiency also, but not sure what.

I understand now why some 20+ states are attempting to unplug from the US Federal Government (corporation) and move back to sovereign authority and goverment from within each state, county, city, town. More states need to do this. We the people need to do what our Declaration of Independance tells us, and fire the government, in order to start over. Then we also need to put a stop to private central banking and foreign banks that screw us all with the counterfeit fiat currency. These two areas are where American Nationals need to focus our attention... that is, those of you who were born in one of the 50 states.

Will the repocesssing banks and mortage companies have to retrofit those homes that have been foreclosed before they can re-sale them? If so , look for alot of foreclosed homes to suffer "accidental fires".

To summarize: - Home Energy Audits are not required by this Energy Bill to sell your home. - Home retrofits (energy upgrades) are not required to sell your home. - Gov't funding may be available to assist homeowners in retrofitting their home. - Home Energy Audit is required to get those gov't funds
