Re: THE BEST RELIGION.Quote

Christians translate that a little differently and probably do their movement harm.

You know, "Saying, "God is gonna getcha for that and THEN you'll wish you believed in him."

And I'm out the door. Even though I know the same truth that they are speaking.

That God is just too small, human and petty for my tastes. We humans like to translate "God" through our own experience with authority figures and that drives people away.

Re: THE BEST RELIGION.Quote

Indeed, we all interpret through the prism of our individual consciousness which is colored by our own experiences and how they have shaped us - which is why the super-religious miss the boat by not realizing this and accounting for it by conditioning what they believe against the greater reality of what actually exists and how it functions independent of belief - and which why it is more a case of developing awareness / purifying and expanding consciousness to map the consciousness to the greater reality of life and how it functions - rather than affixing the consciousness to fixed beliefs and using them as eternal bearing to decipher all truth from the outside in.

Re: THE BEST RELIGION.Quote

It will always and evermore continue to sleigh me that people in this day and age accept ancient scripture as their resource for "investigating" and understanding such macroscopic issues as:

1) What is "god"?
2) How does "god" function?
3) How does "god" interrelate to its creation?
4) How did creation come to be?
5) How old is creation?
6) What is the nature of man in relation to "god" and to creation?
7) What is the nature of life?
8) How do natural selection, mutation and evolution figure into the picture of life?
9) How did man come to be?
10)What is the nature and functioning of the soul and the mechanics of soul transition?

The blinders people have to put on to avoid stay entrenched in their fairy tale stories is beguiling.

Just the age of the universe makes the whole yarn of Christianity come apart - that is - if any Christian can accept all the scientific evidence that the earth is MUCH closer to 5 billion years old than 6 thousand years old - which would imply, according to their myth, that man is also 5 billion years old - which places the time difference between the garden of eden and the mythical Jesus at about......5 billion years.....????? Kinda shoots the crap outta the old testament I'd say.....And wouldn't the fossil record have to bear out the age of man if he has been around for 5 billion years?????

You are a spiritual retard...and proud of it. The true definition of a fool.

Answer me this, why do people that hate religion always want to take away the freedom of those who want it? Then if that does not work, they just begin a mass murdering spree, and try to eradicate it altogether, only to self destruct.

Perhaps you should have been a little more studious in History class.

This is sadly too common. It's as though they don't have faith that God will actually work in the hearts of "other" people, so they resort to immature provocation in an effort to stir *some* kind of response to the gospel.
Even if non-christians were doomed*, Love isn't going to sneer.

*They aren't - we just don't all take the same route to Christ, nor on the same schedule. The first shall be last and the last shall be first.

Re: THE BEST RELIGION.Quote

The people who wrote the great spiritual guides of humanity knew the truths, I believe. They just had ways of framing them from their particular cultural perspective.

I love it when I have an "aha" moment of what is true for me and can remember the exact verse where it says that in the Bible.

Then there is that other stuff - the "control" stuff which in any movement, no matter how well meaning, gets added because it's human nature to develop rules of control. Some good/some not so good.

The trip is a lifetime journey, yeah?

Fun to find others here who have recognized their personal path.

Re: THE BEST RELIGION.Quote

Oh, and reincarnation also shoots the poop outta western religion with all its attendant misconstructions, such as:

1) there is something called sin that has eternal consequences as we have but one life to either rid ourselves of it by choosing the right avatar or suffer eternal damnation.

2) man is eternally flawed and has no hope of reuniting with his maker lest we accept the bloody sacrifice of an innocent to pave our way to nirvana - again - we have but one lifetime to get this right.

3) there is a GUY called GOD who lives apart from his creation and has rules and guidelines which must strictly be followed or you are not allowed into his front door upon death - again, after one lifetime - no matter how long or short you lived, no matter where you lived or where you were born - no matter what socialization you incurred including the embedded religion of that culture.

I could go on, but you might see that just the fact that life continues - that we continue - that there is no end - no fork in the road - then - there is no judgment - no need to atone in one lifetime for whatever iniquities you perpetrated - and thus, there is no eternal consequence for anything - and - we are not here to be perfect at all - to placate or appease anyone or anything - on or off planet....

Perhaps it would be best if we all kept religion where it belongs, in the privacy of our own minds. Then those who choose to believe may do so, without interfering with the rights of those who do not, and those who choose not to believe may do so with out causing offense to those who choose religion. It seems to me that by never speaking about it and never sticking offending opinions into each others faces we might go a long way to avoiding the next religious war.

Re: THE BEST RELIGION.Quote

I don't mind being called a spiritual retard as it only further cements the negative image and disposition of the one hurling the insults. It has naught to do with me. I consider him to be a perfect reflection of his belief system and thus he helps me to make my points.

Keep it up, weetard.
