I read this article thinking, "ho hum, same old," until I got to the end. Then I was like WTF?! Are they kidding here? A LIFE sentence for talking to a teen on the internet? I mean come on now. I have no love for child molesters, and if he HAD molested the kid I would be the first one to call for castration. But I mean come on here. A little extreme? Now it's true that he probably won't get a life sentence, but why the hell should that even be on the table?
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A Pelham Middle School teacher has pleaded not guilty to a charge that he tried to lure a 15-year-old girl he met online into having sex with him.
Gregg Cavaluzzi entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in White Plains. A judge ordered Cavaluzzi to undergo a psychiatric examination, to help determine bail conditions.
Cavaluzzi taught seventh-grade social studies in Pelham. He previously coached lacrosse in Pleasantville, N.Y., and Ridgefield, Conn. He also has worked in New York City schools.
Pelham Superintendent Dennis Lauro says police found no students at risk.
Attorney Clinton Calhoun says his client suffers from depression and cocaine addiction.
If convicted, Cavaluzzi faces a possible life sentence.

That's fuckin bullshit as far as I'm concerned. Now dont get me wrong, if he had actually done something, like I said before, he should be punished. But as far as I'm concerned, internet solicitation is NOT the sort of crime that should carry this sort of penalty. ESPECIALLY in cases where it borders on entrapment, when there isn't even a victim, but an agent sitting there baiting and acting like a teen.
