Re: Life sentence for attempting to lure a teen for sex???Quote

15 year olds "fall in love", get their hearts broken, and do it all over again about every 3 months. She'd get over it as soon as the next cute boy came along.
 Quoting: Evil Twin

That's not true. I had a childhood sweetheart who moved away. Many many years later she came into the store where I was working. You can't imagine the whirlwind relationshop that followed for years after that. We didn't wind up together in the long run, just wasn't meant to be as it turned out, but wow, what a ride.

And furthermore, what you are talking about is a big problem. They get their heartbroken, and instead of ever falling in love again, they spend the rest of their lives using people. Wonderful existence.

In fact, that is the biggest reason why I can't stand people who take advantage of kids. Because they are starting down an impossible path, that they know will only end in heartache. But if a man or woman were committed to the happiness of someone younger than them, and not just using them, then I really don't see how that would really be any of our business.
When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.

Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"

Im basically asking you think makes a child. We seem to throw common sense aside in America to protect the "children". Look Im all for hanging those who rape 6 year olds but someone is sexually mature is not a child.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 717520

I don't think 30 year olds should be sleeping with 15 year olds, but I still think there is a big difference between that and someone who's molesting pre-pubescent kids who really don't have any clue at all, and are much more clearly being victimized. There certainly is no "I swear officer, I thought she was 18" in cases like that. And those are the real demented fucks that law-enforcement should be applying their resources toward.

in the old days they use to call those ages "jail bait" young girls MUST realize they to have to control their urges because they risk getting the man into a lot of trouble.

Plus fucking one. Another problem, especially in places where the age of consent is 18*, is girls lying about their age, either online or in person. cf. The singer Usher a year or so ago.

*It's 16 in the UK, so it's generally (with a very small numebr of exceptions) fairly easy to tell if a girl is under 16. 16-18 or 18+ is a more difficult task.

The age of consent is 16 or 17 in most states in the United States although most seem to think its 18 everywhere here. I guess that misconception comes from Hollywood or the media I dont know.

What makes a child is irrelevant and being sexually mature does not magically turn you into an ADULT. What makes an adult is the full maturity of the brain which for a fact does not occur until around the age of 18! Up until that point especially for females, we need to protect their innocence until they are ready to take full responsiblity for their actions.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 717173

I know plenty of women who NEVER grew up. Well, guys too for that matter.

I see girls 20 and 21 who dont have a fully mature brain. Are they children to? Should I be sent to jail for life for having sex with them?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 717520

And what about someone who is mentally handicapped? Are they not allowed to ever have sex for the rest of their lives? Maybe Forrest Gump would have been better off.

It could be the media I suppose. I'm not sure why Hollywood would intentionally make people think the age of consent was higher than it is, given various rumours about how casting directors work lmao

Don't some states have some odd laws for it? Isn't there a state where it's 16 if the other person is 24 or under and 18 other wise, unless you're married?
 Quoting: Lemoning

There is a LOT of ambiguity there. Scared the hell out of me when I was a teenager too, I can tell you that. I even called the police and got all different answers from them.

Interesting quesion, if they are clinicaly diagnosed as having a mental age of a child then yes and they would need to be treated like a child. Its probably a grey area of the law.

Not at all. If you interfere, it's discrimination against the mentally handicapped. My ex used to work with them, and was not allowed to interfere in their sexuality unless they were attacking someone or being attacked.

I few years back I used to go on Yahoo chat rooms giving a false appearance of trying to lure very young girls. I was warned very sternly that I was heading for BIG TROUBLE but I continued anyway. The police never knocked on my door and Yahoo never banned me.

Ossie bloke failed again.

I wouldn't recommend that, but it really does go to show that the laws cannot protect the kids. It's up to the parents.

TWATS like you got the user rooms of yahoo chat shut down. you cunt!

There was a great thing going with the G_I_T_A_R_P_L_A_Y_E_R_S_R_O_O_M_!

It's a shame it was shut down but why blame people like me and not the police? They would have been informed, probably repeatedly, of what I appeared to be doing but they didn't do anything.
 Quoting: Ossie bloke

Not to mention the fact that the POLICE and courts were the ones who ACTUALLY shut it down, not you.

So by the logic displayed above, the people who act are not to blame, but the people who "caused" them to act. The police shut down that chat rooms, but you are to blame? Well in that case, I suppose no one could really blame me for going out and stealing a sandwhich, we'll have to blame the boss who laid me off. See where I'm going with this?

Ignoring the fact that the 14 year old almost certainly had zero or very little income. I thought judges in child support cases were supposed to take into account the financial circumstacnes of the father. I agree that the rules are unfair though.

Pretty soon, all internet communication will be judged the same way real life behavior is judged. No more freedom of speech without applied rigorous laws of life.

You tried to lure a 15 year old minor? Same laws as real life luring. She can say whatever she wants...but as an adult, you have to BEHAVE.

laws are put in place to protect people....

young and old....

and that`s good....

problem is we live in a society that bends the law when the elite get caught with their hands in the cookie jar...

There was a governor in mexico that got sent to the supreme court for his involvement in a pedophile ring....

the court said it didn`t have the jurisdiction over his case....

wtf?

if the supreme court doesn`t have the jurisdiction...

then what do they need a supreme court for....

the thing is this....

the u.s. is no different....

it just goes on in deeper circles.....

and the sheeple are left to bicker on the small fries....

deflection!
