AC, Buffy is quite a woman... I admire her greatly, for being an activist when the rest of us don't seem to give a damn....about our world..:(

Many people don't know that she is also an accomplished song writer as well as a musician.... such a beautiful heart!

Saw her tonight at a festival here in Hamilton.

She was absolutely amazing Duncan..... still trying to change the world in her own small way....

She made me proud to be a woman, a Canadian and very proud of my Indian heritage....

Hey AC, we're neighbours...... !!! Nice to meet you;)

It was a great show.... she has so much talent! I remember her as a folk singer when I was young.... but wasn't it amazing to hear her do a bluesy type of song????

I will be getting her new music.... perhaps even tomorrow ;)

It was disappointing that there were not many six nations folk out to support her...:(

Was thinking about seeing Joe Cocker at Hamilton Place tonight.... glad it turned out to be Buffy though.

Hi HBH, she has dual citizenship and is now involved in producing digital art as well as music. She actually worked.... of all places on the Sesame Street show! Talk about versatile! She has an Honourary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Regina and earned her doctorate in fine arts and has degrees in eastern philosophy and education. An educator and visual artist before she was known as a singer, she lectures on a variety of topics, including film scoring, electronic music, songwriting, Native-American studies, the Cradleboard Teaching Project, women's issues and Native-American government.

An adjunct professor at York University in Toronto and Saskatchewan Indian Federated College in Regina, both in Canada, she was an Evans Chair Scholar at the Evergreen State College in Washington. She has also taught at the Institute for American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M.

She operates the Nihewan Foundation for Native American Education whose Cradleboard Teaching Project serves Indian and non-Indian children and teachers in 18 states

I believe she is currently living in Maui... She's been on tour here in Canada this year promoting her new music.

Her new CD, from the few songs she did tonight is phenomenal. I intend to get it and play it to death. Some of the songs are reminescent of the type of songs she did in the 60s .... anti government ;)

She played the mouth bow tonight.... it was totally an amazing evening.....

Ahhh...your description of a gifted human with talent and mindfulness with a cause...living in Maui (a paradise - I've visited there).

No need to be famous anymore. (What a relief) What a blessing for her.

Yes from what I've heard of the early folk stuff, it is great too, the songs give me chills. And I heard the 1969 album 'Illuminations' with all the strange electronic voice effects, timeless in a way. And I heard a song 'Eagle Man, Changing Woman' from the mid-70s, all I could say about that song is WOW! :))))

I'm tempted to go onto Amazon.com and buy that new album 'Running For The Drum', it has a bonus DVD all about her life and career.
