Well, even though the search feature is not working on Stereo, I went back a few days and this sunspot began its appearance on Stereo Behind sometime on June 27. I was just curious, since some folks think it came up out of the blue all of sudden. Might have been starting before then, but its clear that day. I has grown.
Still no new magnetogram pic on SOHO, the one there is now almost 24 hours old, we have had a B 3 or so flare, so it continues to spit low b flares, they aren't getting bigger and none has been a large as the b7 earlier today. It has been spitting a bit over 24 hours now, roughly one per hour if you look close. [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov]
In the absense of new SOHO pics, hard to say what it is doing. I may go check www.spaceweather.com to see what the amateurs are reporting.
OK, EDITING. I did go look and they all seem fairly similar, there is a variety of tools used. The most recent was about 14 UTC, and that looks little different from the earlier ones anyway.
What is interesting and I assume discussed here, is that apparently this sun spot is occuring about 33 days after the last one, more or less, so may or may NOT fit predictions on the crop circles. But I don't believe its the same one, I didn't go back far enough with dates to see how long it showed or not on STereo ahead, or if it went completely splat or not before it rotated out of site. It would not be possible to follow it all around the back of the sun with Stereo because Stereo misses the middle 50% of the back of the sun.
