if they suddenly cut your line of credit on your credit cards and you willl need to depend on it to live, if you are laid off, then you will have nothing to fall back on.later.. So the new strategy is to put the spare payment monies into your savings account asap for hard times. .pay min payments on cc .....cause you gonna need 8 to 9 months worth of money to pay all your bills so as to live during long lay offs.. .

Or, better yet, just tell the CC companies to fuck off...you'll pay them once you receive YOUR bailout.

What are they going to do, kill you for not paying?

Bad advice. Make minimum payments and maintain your credit rating.

I do not use credit cards. I have one, specifically for emergencies only....

I refuse to use them, especially with the interest rates..

We paid off one card, in the process of paying off the other one ( around 2 grand) ... they sent a lette the other day saying that starting now their minimum payments would double ( min 5 %).

I already paid extra every month to knock it down. Could have had it payed off but hubby is making half of what he made last year.

So I think they are on to the fact people are going to do this.. Sucks!!

You cannot fight the system. So use it to your advantage. You DO need decent credit if you want to get best interest rate on a new car, or a new home.

Things go in cycles. Now we are in a down cycle, but it will go up again. So don't screw yourself up by being stupidly outraged against the system.

Use it to your own advantage.

Build up your savings but maintain the best credit rating you can.

We got rid of all our credit cards except one. We pay that in full every month.

You cannot get on a plane using cash - many airlines require payment with a credit card. Can you rent a car with cash? I doubt it.

The whole system, money, debt, control, is the enemy of liberty.

You got 'tricked' into the credit system and money. After discovering the ruse used against you, wouldn't it be a little funny to keep getting screwed by continuing to play the game?

A game intentionally set-up for you to lose? =) Not me.

I stopped paying credit a year ago. Hell, the United States has NEVER squared away their debts. NEVER in history have they been debt-free and clear. That should tell you something.

Besides, haven't you ever heard of a Visa/Mastercard Debit Card that's connected to your checking acct? You can use those for plane tix, rental cars, etc.

Admit it, you have NO valid reason for worshiping the banks and having a 'good' credit rating.

Fuck the banks, fuck the CC companies.

pay atleast mimimum on credit cars put rest in savings to fall back on if they slash your line of credit. . This way you can survive if you lose your job. this is the new survival strategy . and it makes sense in this economic mess.. most of america are buying only essentials this is just no time for stupiity so stay out of new debt .make your stuff last and shine it up, to make it look better, rather than spending on new stuff. . forget buying bling . fix up your stuff.

How about pay NOTHING to the CC companies, and put ALL that money into savings.

I take it you'd rather starve and lose your residence than not pay your min. balance.

Yup.

Tell yah what. Give me the right to "make money" -- upto 9x of what I have in savings as liquidity, and then maybe I'll pay back some credit card loans made to me using the same rules. Yes, that's what we'll do, create more fake money to pay back loans made with fake money to begin with.

Do not put your CASH in your bank account if you decide not to pay your credit cards!

Credit card companies will levy and withdraw amount owed from your bank account, so when the day you find out it's too late!

Don't use a credit card unless you can pay it off each month.

Don't use it to make ends meet if you lose your job.

If you lose your job:
Eat peanut butter and jelly on bread or crackers. Stop smoking those cigs, stop buying soda, stop going out to eat, stop what ever you can NOT afford! Stop cable, stop internet, stop landline phone if you have mobile phone. Or viseversa. Turn off the airconditioner and sleep in the basement if it is too hot.

People do not know how to live within their means and have no idea of how to rough it.

Oh, and plant your own garden so you can have fresh veggies.

While you do have a job, yes you need to have an emergency stash of cash.

Also, if you already have some few thousand in savings at this time, seriously consider moving it into Silver or Gold coins. There are places where you can walk in and buy silver bullion or gold coins one or two at a time and pay something over spot price - but not a huge amount over. Having as little as 20 ounces of gold (today worth about $20k in USD) could well turn into sixty thousand or more and in terms of real purchasing power, I don' know what the upside could be. Substantial to say the least.

If you are still working keep paying on your cards; but any extra cash you have don't keep it in the bank. As someone else said buy silver with it, and keep it in a safe at home. Of course you never tell anyone you have this hidden safe or cash or bullion in it. The reason for this is if you have to declare bankruptcy in the future the judge can have any extra cash you have in your bank accounts expropriated and put towards the debts that you owe.

You are right. If you buy gold coins be sure to buy more than $1000 worth at a time. That way you pay no tax on it. And there is no paper trail at all. This is one way you can make money without paying taxes and no paper trail. Hide your coins well and tell NOBODY about them. NOBODY.
