Do you ever feel joy? And no help from drugs.
Quote

Have you experienced joy, no help from drugs?

I've felt occasional glimmers of joy, but they were fleeting.

But I believe joy is real.

Do you know joy?

Yes, when in the PURE moment and everything else has been let go. I have found it on stage while in song..in the moment, the magic, the emotion. I have found it in making love, the communication, passion, the giving and taking and understanding.

I have see joy in other ways but also have seen the opposite...I need both to balance. Drugs of course are pretty much in everything. One thing I don't think I have experienced is the "Runner's High". I have heard it is terrific.

Joy yes, but only glimmers as you say. Not enough imho but it's okay.

My nieces telling me they love me.

Humminbirds in my yard, fleeting.

Birds in my birdbath.

Things that I plant doing well.

Friends and family that make me smile.

Struggling here without the drugs lol

Unfortunately, the other 80 percent of my life is in a prison planet lol working at a job I hate. Have some good friends there so I supppose we can deduct 5% off of that.

Wouldn't it be amazing to live on a physical Earth where joy was what most humans and other animals felt most of the time?

Many are ready for this type of Earth, but some powerful people don't want this to occur.

OP, I feel that is our natural state yet for many reasons it just doesn't happen.

Of course I understand that you can't appreciate joy until you suffer, to put it simply. We need to learn balance, that is how we grow in our hearts and minds. But it breaks my heart to see how people suffer too much and get so little joy. My life is blessed compared to so many others.

I'm not a religious person but for lack of a better term I really think we live in the devil's world.

yes, when i'm in the midst of communion with the divine.

meditation/praying/communion with all that is good and lovely will naturally result in such an emotion.

it is the joy of the soul, not of the body. due to the fact that the soul is a far more substantial object than our mere fleshly bodies, the joys of the soul are therefore far weightier than the "joys" of the body.

when you are in such a state, you will attain joy from many things. a beautiful cloud, for example, will enrapture your soul and cause your inward self to sing.

this joy however can only be obtained through complete consecration unto god, jesus christ and the holy spirit. when i am drenched in sin and wickedness, this emotion is distinguished.

"With complete consecration comes perfect peace." -Watchman Nee

I feel joy with my family, my three little dogs. Dogs can be great healers and empaths. Also sometimes I feel joy in the moments before sleep.

Yes, especially being in the hills and surrounded by nature. I've never taken drugs, never had to.

you say you have experienced joys, but they were fleeting. well this is expected, my friend.

the bible says everything on planet earth is fleeting, passing away, and completely temporary. therefore if you indulge in things that are temporary, you will obtain temporary results.

the soul however is not temporary, but rather eternal. therefore if you please that which is eternal, you will reap substantial and lasting benefits.

The truth is, I'm thrilled if I'm not depressed.

If I'm not depressed, I can't complain. Because this world mostly sucks!

The glimmers of joy I experienced, minus drugs, left me with hope that something much better than this world was possible.

By the way, I'm not against drugs that give you artificial joy.

As long as they don't make you stupid, or dead, or cause you to go to jail for a long time.

Small, Small! things can bring an extraordinary flow of joy. Any mind hurtle I jump brings me immense pleasure. I don't have to move, I don't have to touch anyone I don't have to open my eye's. I can bring myself life.

Joy . Without drugs. Without anything thing . It's possible

I have felt it in the past. Rarely.

But today, I was thinking about your post and it's been years since I've experienced it. Years.

I suspect it's nearly impossible to get there without being sober and clean. Drugs and booze won't do it.

Drugs and booze bring great joy for some and pain for others and a combination of both for all.

i never used drugs . I hang with God and Jesus in good times and bad. i get on through them ok . we should try our best to prepare for the hard times, of life, ahead of time, during the plentiful times,if possible. But thats hard advice to follow all the time, however . . try to stay outta debt and do not load down your life with long term expensive duties .It just takes your freedoms away .

It's hard to imagine being joyful most of the time.

It's also hard to imagine not having a physical body.

i was a heavy user of many drugs, particularly cannabis (marijuana), before my spiritual conversion. this drug indeed brought joy to my life, but it only lasted as long as the element remained in my body. then it was over. not only so, but it was a very artificial and fake joy. anything undesirable that occurred in my life would immediately conflict with this unsubstantial contentment.

...then i realized that i actually had a soul, and that it, like the body, can be satisfied, and in reality there is only one thing which can satisfy its true desires and cravings.

You will notice that I said some? Any chemical you use to alter your state is not fake and the experience is also not fake. Those experiences you had are real and you will hopefully remember them forever - both the positive and negative effects.
