It is located 6km from the "The Great Crack" and 16 km from the edge of Hilina Pali... a headwall scarp resulting from either a large slump or landslide.

I was there for this one.

That was when Halape disappeared,
Sank below the surface of the water.

I was staying in a house on the beach at Lyman's
in Kona. I was going to rent the place.

Had gone to bed early,
was going to move in the next day,
and, felt the earthquake,
and in ten, fifteen minutes, the house had three feet of water in it.

About fifteen minutes after that
the civil defense sirens sounded.

After that night,
I lived above the fifteen hundred foot level.
