AVGFree

Widely used, and you don't need to eventually buy it. And, I thinks it's only like $29.99 if you do choose to upgrade.

The home edition does not expire.
You just have to re-register after a year.

Been using for a long time with no problems.

"avast! 4 Home Edition works for 60 days after the installation in demo mode. You will obtain your FREE license key by E-mail after the registration. The license key is valid for 1 year. After one year you will need to just re-register."

The best way to protect against viruses is to learn more about computers. I haven't used an anti virus since probably 2002. Saves money, and computer resources.

I bought Kaspersky last year and now it's saying I need to buy a new license. What? I need to pay £27.99 for the software every single year? You must be joking. I, too, am looking for a free virus checker.

that's why i don't like em. if you go for paid stuff, you should look for mcafee virusscan enterprise 8.7i with their patch 1 and the anti$pyw@r3 module installed.

at least that's what i did. it's worth its price.
