In June 2009, the projected US population was 304,059,724.
In June 2009, the unemployment rate (official) was 9.5%
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the civilian workforce, (which the unemployment figured are calculated for) was 154,926,000, or 50.95% of the total population.
Since 9.5% of them are not working, that leaves 14,717,970 people in addition to the 149,133,724 who are not in the "civilian workforce", giving a total of 163,851,694 people with out full-time jobs.
That gives you a total employment of 46.1% of the total population that actually have full time jobs.

These millions of jobs are occupied with people that the government seems to want to give amnesty to. So for every job they do you can add one more American to the Unemployment Ranks and add one more to the population but since they don’t count the actual unemployment rate climbs all the more. |

You add the non permanent resident aliens (legal and not) ie 30 million, to the official population of the US, ie 304 million plus 30 million = 334 million. Then adjust the labor force and unemployment numbers accordingly...
But if some people think the US govt is offering amnesty to registered, legal, official work visa holders, What's the use trying to explain the subtleties to such ignorance?

Has anyone realized that over the last few months the MSM hasnt been publishing monthly increases in the unemployed, but the monthly decreases in total employment?
Monthly unemployment percentages have leveled off....
That's because the 100s of thousands being laid-off equals the 100s of thousands running out of unemployment benefits.
