Get this..
Peer1 one of the largest hosts in Canada today had a "fire" that took out the entire facility...
They are claiming it was an explosion from the "UPS" backup system..
I know this because we have some shit hosted there and it went down and we've been trying to get shit working for the last 15 hours..
This is odd to me because this NEVER HAPPENS and there was another fire with an "explosion" in a Network Operations Center in Texas last week!
/me thinks something is up with this shit...

Of the few who listen, fewer still will understand,
Understanding does not mean believe,
Of the handful who believe, most may not know what to do,
Those who even know, how many will actually do ?
And the rare ones who have done it.......
Need not listen to you anymore.

Lets hope for the best. Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Psa 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, [and] all the nations that forget God.
STOCK UP NOW. You should have at least 6 months worth of basics for every member of your household. Stay away from crowds when trouble starts, do not forget water storage, tobaccos worth more than gold or silver, and be kind to hungry children. |

Odd for sure.....if I were running a server farm?....I'd be checking my input voltage on the service in....and checking the cycles with a scope too.....
Most people do not know this but you run something like say a fan motor on a 50hz electrical system when it is made for 60hz?....it runs at a slower speed.....it's how a variable freq motor control functions.
A little over voltage...and all your cooling fans run a bit slow for a while?...well....steady electricity is important...let's put it that way.... ____________________________________________________

The UPS systems are also power conditioners. No over/under voltage spikes get tru their filters.
Voltage is not the same as frequency, The frequency is supplied by the power authority and the UPS`S are directly tied to the service.

yes! Australia and Paris were confirmed to have been equinix failures, an outage in the Taiwan version of the Dow halted trading there, and that trading system uses equinix. Remember the O'Hare and the US Dow computer failures, stranding thousands before the holiday weekend, and leading the Dow to extend trading for 15 min Thursday for the firs time ever? And then there was that fire at the Seattle Data Center. all this was within the same 5 days.
I believe there is a spotty and intermittent but not random ongoing attack on data centers in various segments of the technological world. It could be test attacks for something bigger or remain minor and spotty but disruptive nonetheless, making them hard to predict and harder to catch. My conspiracy opinion only...

Other than that, if the batteries caught fire, unless they have some LiOn(lithium Ion component) due to overcharging, it would be an unbelieveable combination of circumstances for that to occur.(unless they went with the lowest bidder, in that case all bets are off). |

Not if you set the V/Hz curves properly in the inverter. If set properly it doesn't matter what the input frequency is the fan will run with no problems.
Too, you must set the proper torque curves in the inverter as well. Constant torque curves for rolls, positive displacement pumps, etc. Variable torque curves for most fan and centrifugal pump loads.

The problem was caused by a nation-wide power outage which triggered a total loss of power at our co-location facility in Sydney.”
According to MyNetFone, as soon as power was restored our engineers were on-site restoring our systems.
“There was no loss of data, and the service has now been fully restored. We are awaiting a formal incident report from our co-location provider who is meant to have emergency power systems in place for just such an incident. Clearly things did not work as planned.”

Multiple data centers at Seattle’s Fisher Plaza are offline after a fire in an electrical vault, which has left much of the complex without power and generator support. The largest impact has been extended downtime for the payment portal Authorize.net, which was offline for hours, leaving thousands of merchants unable to process credit card payments through their web sites. The downtime has also affected Microsoft’s Bing Travel service, Geocaching.com, domain registrar Dotster and web hosting provider AdHost, along with dozens of other sites.
Power was restored early Saturday morning, July 4, and tenants report that servers are coming back online. As of 10 a.m. Eastern Saturday, Geocaching and AdHostare are back online, but Bing Travel continues to display a message about the outage.
Authorize.net has since been able to restore its web site and most of its processing services through a backup data center. But with key electrical systems out of action for an indefinite period, building staff are turning to portable generators to provide an interim solution for tenants, who are being told that power may be restored sometime Friday evening.
Fisher said the electrical fire started at 11:10 p.m. Pacific time Thursday in a garage-level electrical room where Fisher Plaza East receives its power from Seattle City Light. “The cause of the electrical fire remains under investigation, and the sompany is working closely with Seattle City Light and outside experts to determine what caused this incident,” said Fisher.

Lastone User ID: 718662 7/5/2009 6:15 PM | | Re: NOC Fire At Peer1 In Canada - 2nd NOC In A Week To Go Down And There Is No News On It? | Quote | April 6 (Bloomberg) -- Energy Australia, the electricity distributor for Sydney, said it completed urgent repairs after Australia’s biggest city was yesterday hit by a second power outage in a week.
The transformer, a key part of the electricity network in the northern part of the business district in Sydney, was re- powered last night and normal services should return this morning, it said. Managers in 20 buildings have been asked to reduce non-essential electricity use in the city, including air conditioning, it said.
Saturday’s outage, which lasted about 75 minutes, closed the Sydney harbor tunnel and stranded people in lifts and buildings. Power to about 50,000 homes and businesses in the city was cut.
Last week, some 70,000 homes and businesses in the city lost power for almost two hours week after the failure of a 132,000-volt cable. |
