My monthly kilowatt usage was 2750 last month
They put this new meter on my house tuesday and so far it says I've used 900 kilowatt hours!
It's been less than a week!
That means I'm gonna be DOUBLE the usage I was on the old meter
This is total bullshit
I have to get over to full solar ASAP

Those Smart Meters are sure smart aren't they? They not only can read how many KW/hours you use but the size of your wallet too.
I am scrambling to get my solar/wind system back up and running following a lightning strike. We haven't been forced to get the Smart Meter yet in my county in Florida but I know it's coming.
Trin, Make darn sure you are well grounded. The key is ONE ground. My cable installer added a separate ground for the internet hook-up. That is a big NO-NO for solar.

When I went solar I had a electric co employee at my gate demanding to look at the meter. They thought I had altered it to steal power.

I think it must be doubling the usage on loads when they are hooked up to it
I have my house wired up special so I can run stuff off an outlet running straight off the breaker box outside..
I'm gonna try to hookup something that I know the power usage on and see if I can catch them that way...

Before I bought the place I am in now I was renting a small place while I was looking to buy.The first couple of months I lived there I had the the old meter,then they came and added the new digital type meter.I was seldom there and used less than the first two months I was there and my bill almost doubled.
They probably hurried out to install yours knowing you planed to go solar.This way they can get the higher crap in place so if you use it at all they will make nearly as much.It is totally a rip off.I cant prove it but I know how my bill went up using less.I think they are set to run faster or something. |
