The conditions I posted also say the meter must be connected or be installed within the reach of a phone line, maybe they can remotely manipulate it like the die-bold machines.
3. Communications Requirements
1. Meter Communications Requirements
a. The meter must have an internal modem with a minimum 1200-baud data rate.
b. The meter must have a 9600-baud optical port.
2. Telephone Communications Requirements
a. The customer/electricity supplier must provide a dedicated Dial In Dial Out (DIDO) phone line within 3 feet of the meter location.
b. The phone line must be operational under normal conditions at all times (7 days per week, 24 hours per day).
c. A data compatible cellular phone is an allowable option to the DIDO phone line. BGE must be consulted for specific requirements and approved vendors. BGE will also provide this device for a monthly fee as noted in Rider 23 - Advanced Meter Services of the BGE Retail Electric Service Tariff.

I am in North Carolina. They came out last year and put one on my house. This year they came out again and said that I was getting the new smart meter. I told them they put it on last year they said no it was a different meter. My bills have been $400 or more monthly for two years now! We, my husband and I want to do a test but do not have a seperate way to get this reading any other suggestions? |

The idea that you could deliberately try to double everyone's electric bill arbitrarily without anyone noticing seems pretty unlikely.

Yes, you read that right - The Trinity Event.
Trinity needs to create an expose documentary based on his Big Power experiences over past months which would include his PV Solar installation. Also any energy conservation improvements he has adopted should be noted in detail. Next would come his Smart Meter experience, etc. This would include any other related anecdotal intelligence. Facts, numbers, discoveries and so forth. This should include as well various relevant pictures and professional testimonials. After all, this is good conspiracy stuff! All these episodes would be good informational material to show to others via a special GLP page which stays updated continually. All the various number data sets especially should be shown as well for any interested party to closely examine. This could prove quite educational actually. In a year or so he might also wish to have all of this stuff fully codifed and published in book form ~ and sell it online here. Godlike Productions Publishing would make its grand debut! |

My monthly kilowatt usage was 2750 last month
They put this new meter on my house tuesday and so far it says I've used 900 kilowatt hours!
It's been less than a week!
That means I'm gonna be DOUBLE the usage I was on the old meter

I think it must be doubling the usage on loads when they are hooked up to it
I have my house wired up special so I can run stuff off an outlet running straight off the breaker box outside..

It might not show a false reading off one leg of the service. That beast deal likely loaded both hot legs...with a 90 amp draw I'd be about certain of it, so you might not catch it with a 110v load.
Hook up something with a motor in it...even if you have to isolate it via just breakers...like a washing machine....if you have a big fan?...that would be good...then hook up something with just a static drain...like a toaster oven....I wonder if motor loads are creating the problem, did "The beast" run fan motors too?...or just the heater elements?
Probably want to check between a 220 load and a 110 too if possible...it might take running off both legs of the service to get the meter to give a false reading...say if you show 5 kw with one 110v device running....then add other alone...it reads 6 kw.....hook them both up on different sides of your service panel?....you get 20 kw...you can probably isolate a couple breakers and turn off all except for one test load on each of two circuits.
Good for you bro...even if this is some sort of fuckup where they ordered meters that aren't right for the application and the engineering guys just didn't know it...till now...most people by far do not have the skill or idea to check their throughput. If there are alot of meters out there doing the same thing?...they will no doubt be forced to rebate a lot of money to people.....if they knew?...well.....class action....BIG class action.
Rock on...doin what's right and there very well could be a lot of people getting screwed that don't know it. I'll do a little research and see if I can come up with an AMP's to KWH conversion...or maybe some big brained preson on here can find or knows the conversion.....AMP probes aren't too expensive and they just clip on....

Thus, in an hour, it uses 11.52 kWh

Question 2: Did you then install a brand new smart meter and test it and it too registered double the kwh usage?
