The user has the ability to program a display multiplier. kWh values contained in the energy registers are multiplied by the display multiplier prior to being displayed in the LCD. The display multiplier does not affect the contents of the internal energy registers. that whole "net metered" thing they keep saying means a meter designed to sell back power to the grid...
They are claiming their other regular meters don't need this "CT" programing?
I'm guessing that's a lie and EVERY ONE of their meters has been through their local programing machine and probably 50% of those have the doubling error if they only have 2 "machines" on which to program as they have indicated...
why the fuck do they have a setting that allows them to "skim" on the actual kilowatt hours anyway...

I caught it...but read that PDF...this is something different...the TWACS System...that pdf reads like a millspec report about an advanced missile system...lol....
Know what the TWACS system does?....it sends the info over the existing power lines...like broadband over your electrical wires....and it appears that they can communicate with your meter and activate a PLC...unless I am wrong...that would be a Programable Logic Control...as in shut you off during peaks etc etc...
Here is some TWACS system info...the meter is designed to use this...where this company bought that option or not?...don't know.
The TWACS fixed-network solution transmits and receives metering and utility data over existing power lines and is one of the Aclara-brand AMI solutions of ESCO Technologies Inc., St. Louis.

In addition, the utility wants to use the data provided by TWACS technology to eliminate estimated billing. This will significantly advance the electrical infrastructure to a state-of-the-art implementation and is expected to serve as a gateway for further deployments in Colombia.

Interesting...
I guess the RF network solution is only viable in neighborhoods where houses are relatively close together and requires nodes and relays that also use the cellular network to transmit the data back to home base. This solution of course won't work where properties are isolated by distance and where a cell signal is not available.

My monthly kilowatt usage was 2750 last month
They put this new meter on my house tuesday and so far it says I've used 900 kilowatt hours!
It's been less than a week!
That means I'm gonna be DOUBLE the usage I was on the old meter
This is total bullshit

Government will never admit wrongdoing. I am amazed you got this much out of them. In the good old days of real journalism, the press was the only dog to keep government in check: the watch dog. Lately it is a lapdog.
Even so, I believe your next move is to take it public. Go to a local paper. E-mail a consumer affairs or business or tech reporter with tidbits of what happened in a concise summary (though not too technical, reporters aren't that tech savvy). If they show no interest, then the local weekly. Even if someone does a small story and even if it isn't terribly accurate or favorable a story starts the ball rolling and the pressure builds from there. Think, rather than atom bomb, drip-drip-drip, water eventually wears away stone. |

Whats really stupid about this cap and trade is that it paints Americans to be heavy polluters while it fails to mention China and a few other nations that are 10x worse than us. Cap and Trade is obviously NOT ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT AT ALL! |

and trin trin u are right it is not just smart meters its also across the board here my eletic bill went from 50 dollars a month to 200 and i use nature gas they came out on the local news it was because we had a spill and we have to pay for it alot went without power here when u live in a state of over 75 percent makes a annual income of 25,000 a year yeah double your electric bil;l |

I think I know what they were trying to do. Because you have alternate power, they went out there that many times to try and figure out how much you can get by without their juice. They then decided to charge you double, thinking that you would be using your own power along with theirs. Your actually usage would have dropped by half, but with the multiplier, your bill would have remained the same!
They probably figured that you would not have noticed, ha! |

It clearly admits to the doubling of metered kilowatt hours on 2 out of the box smart meters but then tries to explain it as a freak thing that only affected me and one other guy on their system...
Please give me your input on this report..

Did you get any feed back from your electricians testing their meters.
Seems to coincidental that two meters tested corrupted.
I think this should be brought to the light of day. |
