I have a digital meter, not a smart one, have it for 11 years, it reads a little over 27000 now.
my electric bill is about 50 euro's a month.
gas about 100 - 150 euro's a month..
260 square meters house.
but I don't use any airco's or 1800 watt hairdryers :D

Trinity the other day you posted that you were going 100% solar and that you were NOT going to get the meter. I posted something like, "This is one of the stated goals of Communism and listed in the Ten Planks of their Communist Manifesto!" So now why did you take this meter?
Odds are they will convince you that you are in need of Prozac and that the meter was always wrong so you owe years of back money. You will get an immediate home inspection for "safety issues" then be brought to Room 101 to meet O'Brien.
because I'm not ready to switch over 100% to solar and when I complained they showed up with 4 guys from the power company and told me I have to take it if I want power
then they came and installed it the next day

The POWER CO spent nearly $500,000.00 in ads to shut the thing down.
Didn't work, it passed.

used to be that you could unplug the glass bulb meter with the whirly gig, plug it in upside down-and it would reverse your KWH usage-and drop your bill!

i conserve energy --my gas bill was so low they put a new meter in and shut off my gas--wanting to come inside my home to turn gas on--i went electric and they got so madddd that i owed them like $3.bucks they sent me the nasisty letter informing me if my $3 dollors was not sent in imeddiately all hell was goonnna rain down on me.

If we see spiraling energy costs do you think we will see a mass exodus out of the northern, colder states and people flocking to more sunnier, warmer states to take advantage for alternative energy?

I can't wait 'till we have it in our area. For a number of years, after seriously reducing electrical usage (lower house occupancy and changing from electric baseboard heaters to gas), I noticed my bill wasn't getting any lower. Turned out the meter reader was not even bothering to read the electric meter and (according to PG&E) was 'estimating'.
The way I found this out was I called PG&E and told her my concern how my bill hadn't gone down despite all the changes I had made. She had me read the meter and told me that something was definitely wrong, because the meter would have to have gone backwards to have the reading I was giving her. She admitted that there was a problem.
PG&E fixed my current bill, and after requesting a meter card for my electric meter and a meter reading schedule, through my own efforts,,, suddenly my electric bill dropped to a third of what it had been - so I'll be more than happy to see those SmartMeters come in; too many lazy people out there,,, not all,,, but enough to create major descrepancies in PG&E bills.
The power companies engineers are coming out at 10 a.m. tomorrow...
The electrician that is wiring the solar up to my house (have to be certified to do that) is going to be out here with his kwh meter at 9 a.m. so he can be here with me to do the testing.
I told him what was going on and he agreed with me that some shit was up with this meter for sure..
I'll keep you posted as to what happens

I live in a Northern Colder State. We get all of our electricity from Hydro-Electric dams. I burn fire wood for heat. The costs for elctricity has been up more this year then last year but it may be more usage on my part. They have not installed smart meters here. I know that they have talked about it and they have half the number of meter readers then they did before. One way to get the most out of life is

They tested my smart meter with their own power company EQ and VERIFIED it WAS doubling the load!!
THEN they installed another brand new smart meter to test it again.
Well guess what...
The NEW smart meter ALSO SHOWED A DOUBLE USAGE READING!
This is by the power company with their own equipment!
So then they put back on my old analogue meter and tested with that..
Of course it showed almost perfect reading..
I asked them to sign something saying what happened and they REFUSED..
I then told them the power commission law requires them to issue a report to me if I ask about what happened today and they reluctantly agreed to provide me one via mail.
There were THREE guys here so if I had to I could depose them UNDER OATH and get the truth if they lie on this report...
Stay tuned people cause I just busted the living shit outa the power company by their own tests!!
I now have my old analogue meter back on the house :)
My fuckin electrician was late and didn't get here till they were gone...
He is here now and I'm trying to get them to come back out so I can get them to admit the results in front of him..
