I used Chantix for 30 days and it worked but I am having a relapse and really don't want to use meds again. 9 days is great OP. Please keep posting on your progress and in a few days I'll let you know how I'm doing. |

It really does work. AND I have not gained any weight!! In fact the perception thing has worked with that too...I used to smoke when bored and thought I'd turn to food but instead I remember, your're just bored...and just by acknowledging that, it takes away it's power. |

As of right now I have a patch on. My dreams are completely off the wall and are as vivid as reality, I think I could get addicted to the patch for that reason alone. |

NOW they've cut the number of pouches in a snus tin from 15 to 12, but that is just the CAMEL brand which is the only domestic snus that is readily available in stores. my advice is get swedish snus direct from sweden, it actually costs no more than the CAMEL brand even with shipping costs. i also advise you to stock up, as the obamanation is going to tax the hell out of it if its the last thing he does. Anonymous Coward User ID: 688273 United States 07/07/2009 12:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I smoked for years and quit dozens of times and always went back worse than before. 2.5 packs a day...yellow fingers and all. Tried everything. Patches and gum worked pretty good at first.....but Then one day 4 years ago, I was driving on a 2 hour trip and was wanting to stop to have a smoke and I said to myself...I should just quit. I tossed the pack in the back seat and havent had even a puff since. My wife still smokes off and on and my daughter and her husband smoke. When I quit before I couldnt be around anyone who smoked because the smell was awful. It doesnt bother me to be around people smoking much at all. It is a 100% head trip. Once you make the decision, its a done deal. |

Rubylocks (OP) User ID: 541584 United States 07/07/2009 12:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In a nutshell, it lays out the reality that it's not so much the hold that nicotine "the drug" has on you physically that makes it so difficult to quit. It has more to do with the mindset you have when trying to quit that makes your attempt successful or not. It goes through some of the reasons we continue to smoke, and then shows you how stupid those reasons are. Then it shows you how all the feelings that make quitting harder (the withdrawl, the absence of your "quiet time", the "need" to have the ciggarette) are caused by smoking...they are NOT caused by NOT smoking. When you are panicked and "needing" a cigarette, what caused that feeling? Smoking a ciggarette CAUSED it, and smoking another ciggarette will only temporarily make you feel like you got rid of the feeling, only to have it re-emerge again later. The only way to get rid of that panicking, that obsessing, is to never smoke again but ONLY if you understand that it was smoking that caused you to feel those horrible feelings. Once you can look at yourself as a smoker (truthfully and not with the blinders on) then you will see how easy it is to say no to all the lies and see smoking for what it really is. Of course there will be people who are not ready to quit using this method, but one of the main factors is..you have to WANT to quit. I know for many years logically I knew I should quit, but I never really wanted to...up until I watched these videos I don't know that I really wanted to...but they just made sense to me. If it's not worth watching the 7 short videos you are probably not even interested in quitting all that much. I just wanted to share what worked for me. I did not want to become addicted to something else like the patch and have to quit that as well which is why I was looking for a method that was more natural. What could be more natural than that? I really hope you try to quit, using what ever method you find that fits with in your life...this one worked for me and I just wanted to share! |

You have to constantly be aware of how many ciggarettes you have left so you don't end up without...you have to plan for smoking...breaks at work, what about at the airport? you have to be pretty crafty to negotiate your smoke time if flying. The self loathing and self berating takes a lot of energy to keep up but one day you'll reach that moment where you decide you are a non-smoker...from there it will be easy...you'll start to celibrate things instead of dread them. For example, family gatherings always stress me out, and more so in the past because I was the only one who smoked...I used to worry "can they smell it on me?"...this last holiday weekend I did not have any of that worry, I only celebrated the face that my hair was smelling nice and I didn't have to sneak away constantly to get my fix and miss things! I hope you can find freedom from smoking soon! |

Instead of quitting cold turkey, I purchased a Electronic Cigarette instead. I absolutely love it. 5 filters = 1 carton for $20.00. Unit cost me 60 bucks, but Spirits were $54.00 a carton You can check it out on the web at: [link to smoke51.com] Good luck to anyone wanting to stop smoking. P.S. some can quit cold turkey, and some cannot. |

It didn't work for me but the most useful insight I took away from it was this; Your brain can not tell the difference between withdrawal, being nervous, being hungry or other negative emotions. I do notice when I go without a cigarette longer than I wanted to that my stomach will tie up in knots etc. Just like being nervous, hungry, etc. The withdrawal is still hard. |
