Actually, the social commentary in this film goes the other way around, encouraging people to identify with and have sympathy for the aliens as a way of pointing out the unfairness of anti-[anygroup] bias. Like AlienNation, but apparently revved-up and with a bit more South African experience thrown into the creative mix.

I find it a little heavy-handed and will probably not go see this movie, but it is pro-alien and not anti-alien.

Directed by Neill Blomkamp, who was going to do the Halo movie...adapted from a short film of his a while back. Google to try to find the short film...very good.
