Nikola Tesla vs Thomas Edison.
POLL: Who's the best?
 Edison
 Tesla
 Both
 None of the above
 Myself
 Blank (View Results)

First, become familiar with this ancient Fable of the Hen who lost her Sight.

THE BLIND HEN

A Hen who had lost her sight, and was accustomed
to scratching up the earth in search of food ; although
blind, still continued to scratch away most diligently.
Of what use was it to the industrious fool? Another
sharp-sighted Hen who spared her tender feet, never
moved from her side, and enjoyed, without scratching,
the fruit of the other's labour. For as often as the
blind Hen scratched up a barley-corn, her watchful
companion devoured it.

Edison was Tesla's exact opposite. However they both accomplished a great deal... But Edison took most of the credit.

Discuss.

Some thoughts to consider...

-Edison said, there is no need for him to become a Mathematician because he could just hire one. He was more of a publicist & businessman

-Tesla believed Science had nothing to do with Politics and claimed not to care for fame and riches. This screwed him over later in life when no one would finance him and living in poverty.

How important is Politics, Fame & Riches when it comes to Scientific Inventions or Science in general?

In the next 100 years, who will be more overall successful, The Nikola Tesla's on the planet or the Thomas Edison's walking amongst us?

Re: Nikola Tesla vs Thomas Edison.
Edison and tesla both fucked us.

Tesla fucked us by not having the vision to see that he needed to get on the money system to trick the others into seeing things his way.
Once he had his free energy in place he should have just told the people how to get it without money.

I think Tesla cant be compared to Edison in anyway Razin

Tesla was screwed over big time by J.P.Morgan and Co and its that which led to him living in poverty. Its a shame he had to make a deal with the devil so to say.

He got screwed over because he didn't educate himself on the politics of Science, Fame and Riches.

If I buy a Television from a Crack addict on the street - Should I really be angry at him for my lack of foresight?

Don't you think, expecting financiers like JP Morgan to support non-financially profitable activities a poorly planned idea?

Don't you think it's a little bit Tesla's fault, that he choose to relinquish things like Money, Power, Fame & Recognition to pursue his Scientific career?

I think he got screwed over for the simple fact free energy if it got out the so called powers that be would have no power what so ever and this at all costs had to be stopped. Yes maybe he did make some poor choices in concern of who he got funds from which in the end led to his work been owned by them and in the end they took it all from him and US.

He didnt care about fame or riches or power he wanted to make the world a far better place for Everyone of us.

as for politics when that gets involved in anything it turns to war

But surely, expecting people to act according to their own self-interests is a elusive obvious? Isn't it?

Shouldn't Tesla's failure to reach and bring his ideas and inventions to critical mass - Rest upon his shoulders for lacking the self-awareness that Financiers and "non-inventors" would steal his ideas?

After the first few people piggybanked on Tesla's fame - Shouldn't he have gotten the experience he needed to change directions during his course as a Scientist?

Or is it purely the fault of the naturally greedy Financiers and Businessmen?

Didn't Tesla know Edison was not an inventor and was more of a businessman... So... The theft of patents and credit of inventions should have been protected beforehand?

Does trick me twice apply to Tesla situation? Or did he just generally believe in the good of the world and how the world could profit from his inventions freely without corporate & monetary influence.

Discuss.

Sincerely,

Razrin

Re: Nikola Tesla vs Thomas Edison.
Tesla was a genius.
I suspect all that mattered to him was the work, the creation.
He released it into the world.
It was the greed of the rest of us that put it in a cage.

Then we say since we own the cage, we own the idea contaied within.

Look at Einstein and the bomb.

Men and women like this tend to have an almost naive side to them.
Maybe they don't even care, all that matters is the Great Work, whatever it may be.

wow i wish i had more sleep hehe your on top form tonight raz.

I think back then 1900 to 1930 ish the problem of corrupt banks and such like was not so much seen but by the end of his life Tesla knew it better than most of us do today how things really work in concern of such things.

saying that though I am not painting him up as some saint of science like but yeah i would say he had some blame perhaps due to his trusting nature but the main share was the Financiers and Businessmen who even then had no intrest in the best intrests of the people only themselves.
