Re: Why does my WIFI slow down when my microwave is on ?
No idea, guess its because microwaves operate on a very similar freq spectrum.

Wifi is about 2.4ghz/2400mhz

Microwaves are about 2.45ghz/2450mhz

The leak from your microwave is probably causing problems with the signal.

No...

But the perception of reality is altered in such a mind boggling way that you just think that something as weak as a microwave could truly distort that which is most powerful... The WiFi...

Or it's really your ISP. They iz n ur router, eatin ur bandwidth.

could be interfering for sure.
you see it slow down because of packet loss.
all internet traffic goes in small packets.
lost packets are requested again.
makes your connection look slower.

Maybe the OP's microwave is uploading the RFID information from secret chips in his ready meals.

Its telling the illuminati what he is eating and how often, its connected to his wifi and uploading masses of data so they can build a psychological profile based on his cullinary habits.

Id put money on it, im no engineer or physicist though.

Guess the magnetron in his microwave is not as finely tuned as the transmitters/recievers on his wifi gear.

Its probably transmitting somekind of electromagnetic bleed into the lower 2.4ghz/2400mhz range which is affecting the signal.

Might do some speed tests with my laptop close to my microwave and try cooking some shit, see what happens.

Would expect 99% of Microwaves leak, probably not to within dangerous levels though.

Maybe OP's MW is a bit old and he needs a newer one.

Re: Why does my WIFI slow down when my microwave is on ?
My boss at work recently told me microwaves interfere with Wifi. Also, recent laws require newer wifi technology to turn off when an airplane is overhead. I can't confirm this but I have no reason to doubt it.

Basically, with millions upon millions of wifi units across the globe, possibly billions, we are microwaving our planet, ourselves, even the solar system.

WTF are we doing?!

WTF were engineers thinking?!

BS, how does it know the airplane is overhead, what quantifies overhead, 10,000ft?

What if the aircrat is 10,001ft or 9,999ft above.

What about satelites operating on similar frequency spectrums and the aircraft flying right through the signal?

The wattage output of wifi is probably in milliwatts, after a couple of hundred feet the signal is so weak it no longer has the power to penetrate the water (humidity in air) much.

Let alone the aircraft shell. or 1000's of feet of atmosphere.

Microwaves work by essentially spinning/vibrating molecules, ussually water in an object, its to do with the electromagnetic waves making the different magnetically charged parts of the molecule move, generating frinction/heat and cooking the food/ warming the object.

Wifi works by probably using amplitude or frequency modulation to encode a digital signal on a carrier wave.

No not really, probably take trillions of watts to heat a large lake, wifi doesnt put out anything like what microwaves put out in enegry. wifi is like spitting on a fire, a microwave is like throwing a bucket of water.

HARPP is like mild flooding, the sun and stars are like the boxing day tsunami.

Thats what the sun does all day every day, bombards us with lots of different types of energy, not just light.

Id hate to imagine the energy output of the sun on say a 1sq meter of land at sea level.

You never seen somebody point a directional attenta at the sun linked up to a radio, the sun isnt just putting out infra red and ultra violet, its putting out radiowaves and all sorts.

True but, Earth is like a fragile egg. We are balanced to all the forces around us before man made influences. Even though it is a small wattage, aside from radio/tv/military EM, it still is an additional influence which would unbalance the fragile ecosphere. Thats my opinion anyways.

A small effect over 50+ years will add up.
