Report abusive post | WEEK 2 USING NEW FREE PRE-RELEASE OF WINDOWS 7 FROM MS-SO FAR FLAWLESS-RUNS ANY PROG/APP IVE TRIED THAT WINDOWS XP/VISTA USES W/NP AT ALL
| Quote |
Its still an available and free pre release from microsoft up and until the ends august 20th, so far any and all ive turned this onto love it, its so much faster even when just browsing and is easy to install.
you can just do a soft install which will kepp all your already in use programs/apps etc, or do as i did and do a full reformat install.
Every program ive installed and used which are for windows xp/vista etc all work w/np at all with windows 7.
Again its from microsoft but even linux users who have tried it like it as much or better than linux and especially the linux gamers can finally play non linux friendly games again after installing windows 7 and unlike vista its NOT a ram sucker
Remember this will only be avail from ms till the 20th of august for free and will go for sale around the beginning of next year 2010 for around $175.
Now i will let u in on a secret, my son is a geek squad employee at best buy.
You can ask an employee there about pre buying windows 7 now and it will only cost you $49 and when its released next year you take your reciept and they will then give you the new cd of windows 7.
Anyway here is the full pre release to try and use directly from microsoft, you will love it especially if you are using windows vista you will ever wonder why it was ever invented comparativly speaking.

Just A Thought User ID: 93768 7/17/2009 10:26 AM | | Re: WEEK 2 USING NEW FREE PRE-RELEASE OF WINDOWS 7 FROM MS-SO FAR FLAWLESS-RUNS ANY PROG/APP IVE TRIED THAT WINDOWS XP/VISTA USES W/NP AT ALL | Quote | This is pre-release software, so please read the following to get an idea of the risks and key things you need to know before you try the RC.
Downloads will be available until August 20, 2009. After that, you can still install the RC and you can get a product key if you need one.
Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You'll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.)
Protect your PC and data. Be sure to back up your data and please don't test the RC on your primary home or business PC.
Tech details/updates: Before installing the RC, please read the Release Notes and Things to Know for important information about the release.
Keep up with the news. You can keep up with general technical information and news by following the team blog. And, you can get non-technical news, tips, and offers by subscribing to the monthly Exploring Windows newsletter.
Keep your PC updated: Be sure to turn on automatic updates in Windows Update in case we publish updates for the RC.
Installation: You can install the Windows 7 RC on a PC running Windows Vista without backing up the PC—but we encourage you to make a backup for safe keeping. If you're running Windows XP or the Windows 7 Beta, you'll need to backup your data, then do a clean installation of the RC, then reinstall your applications and restore your data. If you need to do a backup, please see How to back up your PC for more details and a suggestion for how to backup a PC running Windows 7 Beta or Windows Vista.
To install and use the RC, you'll need to know how to:
Troubleshoot problems. You're pretty much flying solo, so you'll need to handle your own tech support, and rely on other RC testers for their know-how
Burn an ISO file to make an installation DVD
Install Windows
Backup and restore your PC
Set up a network
Create and use a system recovery disk |

Using it too since may. It's a pretty decent OS.
Have you noticed any probs at all w/it? Quoting: tvtech3
With avg antivirus installed, it boots very slowly (much slower than xp or vista). Other than that no problem at all. Must find a different antivirus program, that's all. |

that's odd; I'm running it with AVG as well and I think it boots a little faster than Vista did... When you installed AVG did you disable the link scanner/email scanners and whatnot? I know that link scanner/search sheild crap is espesially a hog; |

The following patch increases Web page loading speed, by doubling the number of possible concurrent open connections. For example, imagine a web page has 20 images and some text - in order for your browser to get all these files, it opens 2 or 4 concurrent connections, depending on the Web server. Increasing the number of open connections allows for faster retrieving of the data. Please note that the patch sets some values outside of the HTML specs. If you decide to install it, backup your Registry first. Changes will take effect after you reboot. Download the patch appropriate for your OS:

it was designed for dual core machines and vista does not need 4 gigs of ram. type in run' msconfig shut down eveything running in background you dont need running when your machine boots theres a lot of suff that runs in the backgrond when your machine boots that does not need too be running this is what makes computers slow is stuff running in backgroud thats eats ram |
