that is a sign of oppression. you feel the urge to be able to fly away and be free, like a bird, but you can't. you're just waiting for the day that you are able to get out of your parents basement and truly be yourself so that you can be in a city that doesn't frown upon wearing a rainbow on your chest.

Here is my story and how true your assessment turned out to be. When I was around 12 or 13 I used to runaway from home several times and I remember it was because of being shouted at or hit by dad, but in general I was feeling oppressed by family and school. I have fond memories when my spirit rode free and independent for some hours but eventually returning because I didn't know how to live independently. I felt that I was surrendering my freedom and begrudgingly accepting whatever awaits me of assimilation. And when I look back I try to see what I benefited from my return, the internet, the conveniences, but discovering the true ignorance of people and family and how through neglect, abuse, and dependency I have become self-doubting and dependent on being controlled and led. Like taming a wild horse and breaking it to serve, move, and think meekly and be oppressed. Ever since then I wanted to return to the freedom of the wilderness and become a hermit until I feel free again then until society changes.

I'm currently a man in my 30's living with my parents and active seeking knowledge that increases personal freedom and independence.

But I'm not sure what you meant by rainbow on my chest. I do want to regain my innocence and love and be loved freely without being judged on matters of sexuality. I don't prefer men so I don't think I'm gay but perhaps wanting to be gay in the archaic meaning of the word.

In my next post I want to ask another question.
