Ok, I´ve read where the birth date of Christ is actually 7 years out. That is, He was born 7 years earlier than our current calender year dot. If this is true then we would be already in 2012!

AND, I think much too much significance is place on A DATE ! It´s popularity probably has more to due with the fact that it means most people feel
they don´t have any problems to deal with presently
so they continue to procrastinate on taking ANY meaningful action to prepare.
And I still like the phrase ... Those who fail

I don`t think so. If anything it`s actually 2010. But anyway the Mayan calendar ends December 21st 2012. So we`ll see I guess. Personally I think this old earth is just gonna keep on turning. Either the end of 2007 or the end of 2012 I guess.

december 21, 2012 is the winter solstice. the winter solstice is the nativity of the sun, of God. the mayan calendar only calculates the end of the current 12 age cycle. the world is not going to end. on december 21, 2012 the mayans would have been celebrating the nativity of the first sun, of God, at the beginning of the next 12 age cycle. if the mayan calculations are correct, then it also marks the beginning of the age of aquarius in "our" calendar. in "our" calendar, the age of aquarius is the 1st age, or 1st time, or "new beginning" of the next 12 age cycle of the precession of the equinoxes. a 12 age cycle is a "world age". we are currently in the 12th age, the age of pisces, the sign of the fish. astronomically speaking, we are in the "end time", the last age of a 12 age cycle. the world is not going to end.
