Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) on Friday announced that unless President Obama apologizes "for impugning the professional conduct" of Cambridge, Mass. Police Sergeant James M. Crowley, he would introduce his resolution. Friday Obama appeared before the press to make conciliatory comments, though not outright apologizing. "I want to make clear that in my choice of words I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sergeant Crowley specifically," Obama said, "and I could have calibrated those words differently." But McCotter seems to be moving forward with the resolution speaking to various media outlets Monday morning. "I view this less as a racial incident than a presidential incident," McCotter told The Washington Times . "What I think is necessary is for the president to apologize to Officer Crowley, retract the statement and let's move forward." [ link to www.myfoxmemphis.com] |
