You need to make sure none of your references on your loan form will give them your address. Don't park near your home, whether they have the address or not. Don't drive on any streets that may cross their path while they look at the old addresses and job. Don't get stopped by the police. If possible take the vin # off your dash. (may cause another set of problems) good luck. |

Yes. in time they will. If you have a GPS disconnect it completely. If you have "on star" or some other service that provides voice communication with a manufacturers "center" get rid of that system NOW! Both can be used to locate you within a matter of inches or feet anywhere in the US. Go to the junk yard and get a ignition key cylinder and then put it in place of teh old one. You will be able to start the car, but a repo man won't have a working key. Won't stop him, but it may slow him down a bit. Park where they cannot load you onto a trailer tow truck or pick up your front wheels or rear wheels and take it away. A busy garage in a city is a great place for such crowded conditions but be sure to tip the garage attendants well so they'll protect your car by not moving others to create access to it! In the end they'll get the car no matter what. Get new transport lined up somehow and use the tactics above to forestall the inevitable. Good luck. I once avoided giving a car back for well over a year when a lease was up. And they didn't find it, until I had a friend take the car into them and say "here it is" asshole! |

Lets go down the list of the ones I can think of shall we? - They contact the post office to get your forwarding address, or ask them where they think you are. - They contact the DMV to get your current residence. - They contact the phone company and ask for a forwarding address or phone number. - They contact any friends or relatives, and will most likely pretend to be a friend trying to find you, someone who is "concerned" about you. Keep in mind they can google you, make connections about where you might be living. I wouldn't put it past these people to goto your previous residence and start asking everyone there where you moved. Or at a minimum what you moved in, say you moved in a Uhaul and they narrow the date down to a weekend back in April. Now they goto Uhaul and slip the guy $20 to find out who rented on that weekend for that location. Or everyone who rented that weekend and they narrow it down using other methods. Everyone leaves tracks, these are just the most common ones I can think of. My best advice is, park your car in a garage of a friend or somewhere far away from you. Then bike/walk to it and make sure you aren't being followed. Once they get near, they'll spot your vehicle and then they can hook it up and drag it off in less than 30 seconds. You won't have a chance to stop them. |

For one thing if you are using a credit card or ATM card for cash, better stop. They can tap the records of your accounts and see where you have been hanging out. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 736797So your being unable to make car payments is the banks fault how? You signed an agreement using the car as collateral for the loan. You are an adult correct? Understand what a contract is? If you cant pay, dont make a repo man find your car. Let them have it and run your life in a responsible manner. |

You think you were somehow taken advantage of by the bank when you got your car loan? Be responsible, not another bottom feeder. |

Used to do this myself for law firms. They can even find who your neighbors were 15 years ago. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 736797Survival off anothers dime. No different than an ordinary thief stealing a pack of smokes from a 7/11, only you are stealing something worth thousands of dollars. Steal that much normally and you are a felon and do 5 to 20, do it by skipping out on a loan and you want pity and a feeling of self-righteousness in doing so. |

The blames falls on the lenders that knew full well what they were doing when they lent to high risk individuals. They're greedy fuckers that shamelessly utilize loopholes to charge you usury rates. They were LOOKING to find people like you. They're not losing money on you, they're likely making it, and to your demise. |

And how dare those farmers selling us suckers that food they know we obviously need but can't always afford. They are looking for people like us to make money from. I say we should just storm the farms and take the food. They made enough money on me over the years. |

Not only will they find you, but they can involve the sheriff, which means you'll face criminal charges for theft. Repo guys can't just show up at your house and take your car. Prior to that, they actually alert the local police department, so the cops already know. While they won't do anything because this is a civil action, they can provide info. And the sheriff CAN get involved if the bank/creditor files a theft charge against you. Give it up and take the bus. |

Nobody forces you to sign a loan and they justify what amounts to grand theft. So damn many people looking for justification for their inadequacies. |
