fuck the haters

the banks are the bottomfeeders here

make a car payment and the bank says ok payment times 10 and loans it out again at usurious rates.

so ten car payments and an auction and the bank has a hundred grand to loan out . plus you are still on the hook for any unpaid balance.

Yeah, how dare those banks loaning people money for things they dont have the cash for. Bastards! They even make money off the deals! What the hell do they think they are, a for profit business or something?

And the nerve of them actually wanting me to pay back the cash I was given. Dont they understand I HAVE PROBLEMS!

If you can't afford to finance a car, then don't do it. Pretty simple. You can buy perfectly reliable used cars for less than $1000. I've done it. Then I saved up what would have been spent on car payments over the next year and bought a newer, nicer vehicle. I could have talked my husband into getting me a new car, but that would have been stupid. They are not immune to breaking down either, and they lose half their value when you drive them off the lot.

You should have read your contract before you signed it, and not put your John Hancock on it if you had a beef with how much money they were making off of you.

Be responsible, not another bottom feeder.

I was just assuming a soon to be thief planning on committing grand theft auto has no marketable skills. Perhaps that person should commit as much energy they are putting into how to steal a car into finding ANY job that brings in some money to get over a temporary financial shortcoming.

Being in debt does not make a person irresponsible.
Being out of work does not make a person irresponsible. Having debtors call on you or repo'ing your car does not make a person irresponsible.

Trying to avoid your debtors, steal a car and/or commit insurance fraud all while crying its not their fault is what makes a person irresponsible.

"Flip" the car chop-shop style. Just make sure you never sell it.
When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.

Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!"

Sell it to a chop shop and report it stolen.

I used to work for a private investigator/bailiff in Australia and their first port of call was our equivalent of the DMV. Then they'd check the electoral roll. I'm guessing it's the same in the U.S.? If those avenues proved fruitless, they'd ring the employer listed on the loan application form to see if the person still worked there or, if not, if the employer knew where they'd moved, etc. I'm sure there were times they seriously just couldn't find the person involved, but I can't remember. Was a long time ago. Hope you go okay anyway!! :)

Re: How do repo men find your car if the finance company doesn't have a current work or home address?
here's a good one...my buddy finished his lease and asked them how much they wanted for his truck...they gave him some stupid value and he told them " my buddy is a dealer and I know I can buy this very same truck at auction for $??...they gave him a huge reduction in price...

maybe you could threaten them to take the car back and your " friend " will be there at auction to buy it back for half the amount they want from you- so then you might reach a compromise too

Re: How do repo men find your car if the finance company doesn't have a current work or home address?
Here is my story, a bit long but taught me a lot. I owned a small construction company and made good money for several years working my ass off. Enough to support my wife and 3 children with a house, 2 nice vehicles, credit cards and all the other debt trappings that were served fresh daily at the bankers buffet. My wife started and eventually finished college about the time construction ground to a halt (2007), so I never got to experience the holy grail of two good incomes at one time. Anyway, 2007 I realized I wasn't going to be selling my house anytime soon as I owed tens of thousands more than it was worth. Upon my work grinding to a halt I experienced a severe short term cash flow crisis for a few months before my wife was able to graduate and begin bringing in money, I stopped paying my house payment and started juggling other bills, went the loan modification route (dragging the process out at every turn) and saw it for the scam it was and declined to participate. In the spring of 08 they finally filed foreclosure and I had no interest in trying to keep mortgage as house was now about $100,000 underwater so I decided a bankruptcy would be a free pass (other than attorneys fees) as long as I was being foreclosed. I gradually stopped juggling all debt service as gas prices hit $4+ and started planning for future. I let them repo my suv and immediately went out and bought same year, make and model with fewer miles for less. When they came they pulled into drive with 1ton pickup and hooked it to the back and came to the door for keys. Eventually they came for my truck, which was being borrowed to my sister at the time, and I told the repo man to fuck off. I thwarted his every effort to intimidate me. I told him repeatedly to get the fuck off my property. He threatened to call the cops and I whipped out my phone and said I'll do it and started dialing 911 and he about shit himself. This ended the driveway shouting match and what ensued was a 45 minute conversation of me educating him on the finer points of our banking system, fiat currency, securitzation etc. by the time I was done he was wanting to shake my hand and saying he might call me, telling me had made other friends from repos. Needless to say i don't want to make friends with people who aim to steal from me. I never had anymore trouble from them, though I did see him drive by once more this was in nov of 08. A few months ago I filed bk and am in the process of redeeming (lumps sum retail value), not reaffirming my loan for about 15 cents on the dollar of loan for that truck. The bottom line is you don't have to let them repo, but they can if they can. If they really want the vehicle they have to get a court order. Number one lesson is stay the fuck out of debt unless the gov has your back (think banks, automakers and ins cos) and don't let these thugs intimidate, harass or otherwise push you around.

Can you gift it to someone, sell it for a dollar. If repo hasn't come for it yet, that may work.

years ago the repo man got me when i thought i was out of dodge. But i made a mistake and ran my credit with my new adress. I thought about it for a while after they repoed the car, but i realized later when i checked my credit, i had some inquiries from creditors i had bad debts with, then the light came on upstairs.

Re: How do repo men find your car if the finance company doesn't have a current work or home address?
Back in the 90's, I financed through GMAC for our car. My girlfriend (now wife) had just had our son. Long story short we were doing well financially at the beginning of that year but a layoff made things tough. I had just called GMAC to tell them I had made a payment by Western Union when this asshole comes to the door and says "are you Mr. XXXXXX?" to which I replied yes. He said "I've been sent by GMAC to collect payment, and I'm not leaving empty-handed" and I told him I'd just made a payment and he wasn't leaving with jack shit. He insisted that he wasn't leaving until I either paid or he hooked on to the car so I told (after we nearly came to blows) to come in and call his headquarters. He talked to customer service and they told him "yes, Mr. XXXXX has made a payment." I asked him why he hadn't checked before disturbing me and he said he didn't have the time because he was on his way back to Denver (he had a pickup truck with a trailer outside). Anyway, I ended up giving the car back a few months later rather than give him the satisfaction of coming back. Pay cash for everything now and will never have anything to do with GMAC again.

Go get it painted a color that is way different from what it is.
You can find a low cost paint shop in the yellow pages.

Like others have said, park it away from where you live - rent a small private garage with a garage door. Walk or bike to your home from this garage.

What year model is this vehicle?

Your car's VIN is unique to it. You'd be driving around in what amounts to a stolen vehicle. So at your next traffic stop, you'd be hauled in most likely.
