Things you misunderstood as a child.

My eldest son thought that the ending of the song "Silent Night" ended in ....sleep in heavenly peeeeee.

He figured that the holy infant had heavenly peeeee.

LOL, makes sense to me.

I used to think that the smoke stacks were really "cloud makers"

when i was younger i didnt understand the concept behind an ATM...

i thought you stick a card in and get out as much money as you wanted... no limits!!!

was i sadly mistaken...


















but now i know you need to have a government ATM card to do that.

When I was a tiny girl I overheard some black guys refer to a girl they were staring at as "Sweet chocolate".

Later I saw a white woman breastfeeding in public and thought of how lucky black babies were, they got chocolate milk!

When I was very little, I listened to my Mom talking to a neighbor and she made reference to herself in a specific time frame saying "when I was pregnant"...
I interpreted this saying as meaning "before I was married".
Why, I don't know. Later I said something to my Grandmother about my Mom "being pregnant, you know, before she was married..."
Grandma did not take it as the mistake of a child, and all hell broke loose til I was able to somehow explain.

When I was a child, my mom told me that I always needed to behave because she would know if I didn't because she had "eyes in the back of her head." I always worried when she combed her hair because I didn't want her to scratch her eyes. She still laughs when I tell her about this!

I used to think the crickets were actually the stars "twinkling"

I thought actors in commercials on TV were live and had to do and say exactly the same thing whenever the ad came on.

I didn't know that men had butts till I was about 5 years old and walked in on my dad in the bathroom...never will forget that...changed me in some way...

RELIGION

Rape was when someone saw you with your clothes off.

I thought brown cows made chocolate milk!

When my son was 5 years old, my husband and I took him to Disney World. On the way down my husband and I were talking about the motel. I stated that check in was at 3 and check out was at 12. A little later I turned around and saw my son silently crying in the back seat. When I asked him what was wrong, he said we couldn't leave the hotel until 12 and had to be back at 3, he wasn't going to have any time at Disney World.

I thought a soap opera was a soap commercial that had people singing in it.

That is actually more logical than the real meaning.

when I was about 5, and people used to talk about the "soul" in church, I would always try to visualize what a "soul" would look like... for some reason I always thought it would look like a pot roast.

I used to think sky scrapers were airplane contrails scraping the sky

I used to hear the older kids bragging about who had the biggest helmet. It was a few years later that I realized they weren't talking about football.

when i was 18 i was working as a window cleaner and this older window cleaner said hey buddy put gloves on your hands when its winter other wise you will have problems with your hands and end up with arthritis

I am 37 and my hands hurt when i close my fist,old people ARE wiser than the Young(not always but most times)

I didn't understand that a bull was a cow...lol. I thought it was a completely different animal.

When I was 15 Or so I believed that when you flew in an airplane that the whole thing was a giant simulation /conspiracy to make you think you were going somewhere, but then It was really just a Cast change and a new set...
