What does though is a massive tidal wave that sweeps the sea bed and carries the living organisms like shells and what not with it.

So rain in itself, especially in the short order of the "flood" account, would NOT transfer or cause a mass migration of shell fish, etc.

It was a flood of spiritual water(truth). Not physical water. The people strayed from God and their society was changed. Just like the world today, the people strayed from God and all kinds of things fell apart.
